is gulab jal a toner - #24752

Asher

I am trying to figure out if gulab jal is a toner or not. I’ve been battling with my sensitive skin lately, and my friend recommended using gulab jal after washing my face. She swears by it and says it works wonders — but I’m kinda skeptical. Like, is it really effective? I’ve tried a few commercial toners and they made my skin even more irritated, ugh! I started using gulab jal, and wow, it feels refreshing, but I’m not sure if that really qualifies as a toner? My skin still feels kinda dry after applying it, and I’m worried it’s not doing what a toner should do, you know? Plus, how long does it usually take to see results? Am I supposed to apply it with a cotton pad or can I just spray it directly? I really want to stick with natural remedies, but I guess I’ll switch back to store bought stuff if I don't figure it out soon 😩. Can anyone tell me if gulab jal is a toner, or will I just end up wasting my time?

Gulab jal, commonly known as rose water, can indeed function as a natural toner. In Ayurveda, it is considered a 'tri-doshic' remedy, meaning it can be beneficial for all dosha types – Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Its cooling and soothing properties make it particularly suitable for sensitive skin that is prone to irritation, as it helps to calm inflammation and redness. When applied after cleansing, rose water can help to balance the skin's pH, tighten pores, and enhance overall skin texture. However, if your skin feels dry after using gulab jal, it may not be providing enough hydration on its own. You could consider applying a lightweight, natural moisturizer shortly after the gulab jal to seal in hydration. It’s also crucial to ensure your gulab jal is pure, without any added fragrances or alcohol, which can irritate sensitive skin. As for the application method, you can use either a cotton pad to swipe it gently over your face or spray it directly onto your skin. Spraying can be more refreshing and ensures an even application. The choice really depends on your personal preference and what feels best for your skin. Regarding results, patience is key with natural remedies. It can take anywhere from a few weeks to a couple of months to notice significant changes in your skin’s texture and tone. If you're consistent in your skincare routine, you may begin to see improvements over time. It's understandable to feel skeptical, especially if previous products have caused irritation, but it's worth giving it a try given the benefits gulab jal has to offer. However, if skin irritation persists or becomes worse, it's advisable to consult with a dermatologist or seek professional guidance to ensure you’re treating your skin appropriately. Natural products are often gentle but every individual’s skin can react differently, so it's important to monitor how your skin is responding.
