how to use cod liver oil for glowing skin - #24783

Paisley

I am really worried about my skin lately, especially because I've been trying to go for that glowing skin look everyone talks about. I’ve heard so many people rave about cod liver oil, like it’s some kind of magic potion! But I'm not sure how to use cod liver oil for glowing skin effectively. Do I take it as a supplement or is there a way to apply it topically? I’ve heard both options are good but honestly, I feel kinda lost here. Last week, I started taking cod liver oil capsules, and I think I can see a tiny bit of difference, but then again, my friends say it takes longer. On top of that, I tried rubbing a little bit on my face last night, and now I’m worried that might not be right. Like, how to use cod liver oil for glowing skin without messing it up? I mean, my skin sometimes feels oily anyway, and I don't want to make it worse. Any tips or experiences would be super appreciated! Thanks a bunch!

Using cod liver oil for glowing skin can be effective, yet it needs to be approached correctly. From an Ayurvedic perspective, skin health is influenced by a combination of internal and external factors, including dosha balance, diet, and lifestyle. Cod liver oil is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, and D. These nutrients can support skin health, but there are considerations to keep in mind. Taking cod liver oil as a supplement is generally safe, and it can indeed contribute to glowing skin. As you’ve started with capsules, it's a good start. The nutrients in the oil works internally to support skin health, improving moisture content and elasticity over time. Just ensure you're consuming the recommended dosage based on your dietary needs and health status. It's always wise to consult a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement, especially when consumed long term. As for topical use, applying cod liver oil directly to the face is not universally recommended, particularly if your skin tends to be oily. It might feel quite greasy on the skin, and could exacerbate oiliness or lead to clogged pores. Instead, focus on incorporating lighter oils that suit your skin type like jojoba or almond oil, which are less likely to cause breakouts. From the Ayurvedic standpoint, it's also important to maintain a diet that supports your skin. Balance your doshas by consuming fresh fruits and vegetables, hydrating well, and incorporating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids such as flaxseeds or chia seeds, if you’re not relying solely on the cod liver. Managing stress levels and ensuring good sleep will also play a significant role in how your skin looks. If your skin feels more oily than usual, it might be trying to tell you something about your current regimen, including diet and lifestyle choices. Avoid heavy or spicy foods and opt for lighter, more hydrating foods to not imbalance your natural oils. Regular physical activity and proper skin cleansing rituals will support the results of using supplementation. Remember, maintaining patience is crucial as changes don't happen overnight.
