Doctors' responses
Hi! I’m an assistant to the Ask Ayurveda doctors. I’ve carefully reviewed your question.
I will explain your symptoms through the Ayurvedic perspective so you understand what is happening in your body as a whole.
From an Ayurvedic standpoint, gas and bloating are often linked to an imbalance in Vata dosha, which governs movement and air in the body. When Vata is disturbed, it can lead to irregular digestion and the accumulation of air, causing discomfort such as gas and bloating.
Eating paneer, especially at night, can aggravate this condition. Paneer is heavy and can be difficult to digest, especially if your digestive fire (agni) is weak or irregular. Consuming it late in the evening might further slow down digestion, leading to the symptoms you experience.
Ayurveda views these symptoms as part of a systemic imbalance. The heaviness and potential for ama (toxins) formation from undigested food can disturb your digestive process, especially if your agni is not at its optimal level.
To give doctors a precise and effective treatment plan, your answers to the questions below are essential. Without this information, the recommendations will be more general and less accurate.
Please answer each question as clearly as possible:
1. How long have you been experiencing gas and bloating at night? Please choose from: less than 1 week, 1-4 weeks, 1-6 months, or more than 6 months.
2. How would you rate the severity of your gas and bloating? Is it mild, moderate, severe, or very severe?
3. Do you notice any other symptoms along with gas and bloating, such as abdominal pain, nausea, or heartburn?
4. Have you changed your diet recently besides eating paneer? If so, have you increased dairy, fried foods, or processed foods?
5. How is your digestive health overall? Do you experience occasional bloating or gas, frequent indigestion or acidity, or chronic issues like constipation or diarrhea?
6. How does your body react to other dairy products? Do you have occasional gas, frequent discomfort, or are you lactose intolerant?
7. What time do you usually eat paneer at night? Is it before 7 PM, between 7 PM - 9 PM, 9 PM - 11 PM, or after 11 PM?
Your detailed responses will help in creating a more tailored approach to your condition.
