Cold and cough

My daughter is 22 months old. She is also teething. The climate here is super hot. She is suffering from cold and have bad cough. I have tried few home remedies and even saline nasal drops but nothing is working this time. She is going to be school whereby exposure to other kids and water play twice a week.

Hello Sonal, Since your daughter is teething and exposed to other kids, her immunity may be low. Does she have fever, congestion, or breathing difficulty? Is the cough dry or with mucus? Does she get frequent colds? Give her warm ajwain and tulsi water throughout the day. Avoid cold, fried, and dairy-heavy foods as they increase mucus. Offer light, warm soups, moong dal khichdi, and fresh seasonal fruits. Apply warm mustard oil with garlic on her chest and back before bedtime. Steam inhalation with ajwain or eucalyptus leaves can help clear congestion. Massage her feet with warm ghee at night. Ensure she stays hydrated with lukewarm water. If symptoms persist, consult a pediatric Ayurvedic doctor.

Dyper rashes

Mere baby k rashes hai aur use Maine rash cream bhi lagai aur dyper free bhi rakha Lekin uske rashes nahi theek ho rahe aur dyper dalna bhi jaroori hai nahi toh mausam thanda hai toh usko thand lag jayegi main Kya karu

Aapke baby ke rashes ko dekhte hue, aapne jo rash cream aur diaper-free rakhne ki koshish ki hai, wo achha hai, lekin kai baar sirf cream se rashes ka ilaj nahi hota, aur thoda dhyan dena padta hai ki rashes ka kaaran kya hai. Ayurvedic drishtikon se, yeh rashes Pitta dosha ke imbalance ke karan ho sakte hain, jo skin ko irritate karta hai. Aap apne baby ki skin ko thanda aur sukoon dene wale Ayurvedic upchar de sakte hain, jaise ki chandan (sandalwood) aur aloevera gel jo natural cooling aur soothing properties rakhte hain. Aap inhe uski skin par lagakar dekh sakte hain, lekin pehle patch test kar lein. Agar diaper rakhna zaroori hai, toh aapko diaper ko regular badalna hoga aur diaper-free rakhne ka samay badhana hoga. Diaper rashes ko kam karne ke liye, diaper ke andar ka area hamesha dry rakhein aur talcum powder ya cornstarch ka istemal karen, lekin bahut zyada nahi. Aapke baby ke liye ek soothing herbal bath bhi faydemand ho sakta hai, jisme neem aur haridra (turmeric) ko use karke rashes ki irritation ko kam kiya ja sakta hai. Agar yeh rashes thik nahi ho rahe hain, toh aapko Ayurvedic doctor se consult karna zaroori hoga, jisse wo baby ki skin type aur condition ke anusar customized treatment de sakte hain.

Who Wrote the First Ayurvedic Book on Child Health? Need This Info for My Research

1 answers

m working on a thesis about ancient medical systems, and Ayurveda has been such a fascinating topic so far. I recently learned that there’s an early text focused specifically on paediatrics, but I’m struggling to find solid info about who wrote it and what the main principles are. 🤔 From what I’ve gathered, it might be related to Kaumarbhritya (is that right?), but I’m not sure if this is the oldest reference or if there’s something else. Does anyone know the author of the earliest Ayurvedic text dealing with children's health? I want to include accurate historical context, but most sources online are either vague or contradict each other. Any insights would be super helpful – even if it's just pointing me to a reliable book or author name. Thanks!

You’re on the right track with Kaumarbhritya, which is the branch of Ayurveda dedicated to paediatrics and the care of children. The earliest and most well-known texts on paediatrics in Ayurveda come from the classical works of Charaka, Sushruta, and Vagbhata. Specifically, the text called "Charaka Samhita" addresses the treatment of children in various sections, though it is more general in nature. However, when it comes to a more focused discussion on paediatrics, "Kaumarbhritya" as a distinct branch of Ayurveda evolved over time. The prominent Ayurvedic physician considered to have contributed significantly to this area was Sage Kashyapa, who wrote the "Kashyapa Samhita," one of the oldest texts dedicated specifically to the health and treatment of children. This text outlines various practices for child care, from prenatal care to managing diseases in infants and children, and includes detailed guidelines on nutrition, health, and well-being. For your thesis, exploring the "Kashyapa Samhita" and the sections of "Charaka Samhita" related to paediatrics will provide a solid historical foundation. You may also want to look at modern translations or academic books on the history of Ayurveda for more context.

How to improve Weight gain for 90 days baby

How to improve Weight gain for 90 days baby? She is 3.6 kg now her birth weight is 2.5 kg and affect by jaundice due to ABO incompatibility. Currently we are using HMF powder mixed with mother's milk to improve weight gain as per pediatrician suggestion. How can improve by ayurveda?

Namaste Magizhini ji, Weight gain in infants must be approached gently, prioritizing nourishment and digestion while ensuring proper growth and development. Ayurveda places significant emphasis on snehan (nourishment), agni (digestion), and maintaining the balance of doshas, especially in such a delicate stage of life. Since your baby had jaundice due to ABO incompatibility, strengthening her agni (digestive fire) and ensuring proper assimilation of nutrients is key. Here's an Ayurvedic approach: 1. Key Ayurvedic Principles for Infant Weight Gain Focus on improving digestion and absorption (balancing vata and pitta dosha) since jaundice can affect digestion. Support immunity and nourishment with natural, mild methods. Exclusively breastfeed unless medically advised otherwise, as mother's milk (stanya) is the best for infants. 2. Ayurvedic Practices to Aid Weight Gain a. Enhancing Breast Milk (Stanya Shodhana and Stanya Vardhana) Since the baby is dependent on breast milk, improving the quality and quantity of breast milk is essential: Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus): A well-known galactagogue to improve milk production and enhance its nutritional quality. You can take Shatavari Kalpa (1 tsp in warm milk twice daily). Jeeraka (Cumin): Cumin seeds aid digestion for both the mother and baby. Drink cumin-infused warm water throughout the day. Other Galactagogue Foods: Include fennel seeds, methi (fenugreek), dill seeds, and ajwain in your diet. b. Baby Massage (Abhyanga) Daily massage with Ayurvedic oils strengthens the baby, improves blood circulation, and enhances weight gain: Use Bala Taila or Lakshadi Taila for gentle massage. Massage the baby 20–30 minutes before a warm bath. This helps nourish tissues (dhatus) and calms vata dosha, which aids growth and digestion. c. Digestive Care (Agni Deepana and Ama Pachana) For optimal weight gain, the baby's digestion must be strong: Ajwain Smoke (Light Digestive Aid): Slightly roast ajwain seeds on a pan and let the mother or baby gently inhale the mild fumes (from a safe distance) to reduce gas and aid digestion. Mother's Digestive Herbs: The mother's diet plays a role in preventing colic or indigestion in the baby. She can take: Hingwashtak Churna: A pinch before meals mixed with ghee and rice to reduce gas. Jeerakarishta: 10 ml diluted in water after meals to enhance digestion. d. Immunity Boosting (Balya and Rasayana Herbs) Gentle, baby-safe Ayurvedic formulations can aid overall development and strengthen immunity: Swarna Prashana: Administered as drops, this combination of gold bhasma, honey, and ghee enhances immunity and supports growth. Consult an Ayurvedic pediatrician for dosage. Dashamoola Decoction (Mild Strengthening): If the baby has any lingering weakness, consult for a very mild preparation of Dashamoola with honey. 3. Mother’s Diet for Better Milk and Baby Weight Gain The mother’s diet directly influences breast milk quality: Include ghee in her diet as it enhances both digestion and the nutritive quality of milk. Eat kalpana ahara (light and nourishing foods) like moong dal khichdi, rice, milk, and boiled vegetables. Avoid spicy, sour, or cold foods as they disturb digestion. 4. Monitor Growth Gradually A 90-day-old baby should gain about 20–30 grams per day. If she is gaining within this range, continue supporting her natural development with the above methods. If you observe issues like frequent regurgitation, gas, or crying after feeding, consult an Ayurvedic pediatrician to address any vata imbalance. 5. Precautions and Modern Integration HMF Powder: Since this has been prescribed by your pediatrician, continue it alongside Ayurvedic care. Regularly monitor weight, urine, and stool patterns to ensure proper digestion and hydration.

What Is the Full Form of APGAR, and Why Is It Important for Newborns?

1 answers

I recently heard about the APGAR score being used to check a newborn’s health right after birth, but I don’t fully understand what it means. Now I’m wondering—what exactly is the full form of APGAR, and why is it important for newborns? From what I understand, APGAR stands for Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration, and it helps doctors assess a baby’s condition immediately after delivery. But how is the scoring done—what do different APGAR scores mean, and when should parents be concerned? I also read that low APGAR scores could indicate breathing issues, low heart rate, or weak muscle tone in a baby. What happens if a newborn has a low score—do they need immediate medical intervention, or can they recover naturally? Since I prefer natural and holistic health approaches, I looked into Ayurveda’s perspective on newborn care. Are there Ayurvedic practices, massages, or herbal remedies that can help strengthen a baby’s overall health and improve their APGAR score naturally? I found that newborn oil massages, specific dietary guidelines for mothers, and herbal tonics are commonly recommended—do these actually help in boosting a baby’s health? For parents who have experienced APGAR scoring after birth, what was your experience like? Did your baby’s score change over time, and were there any special care methods that helped improve their health? I’d love to hear real insights on APGAR scores and newborn well-being.

The APGAR score is a quick test performed on a newborn baby right after birth to assess their overall health and determine if immediate medical care is needed. The full form of APGAR stands for Appearance, Pulse, Grimace, Activity, and Respiration. Each category is scored on a scale of 0 to 2, with a total score ranging from 0 to 10. A score of 7 or higher is generally considered normal, while a score below 7 might indicate that the baby needs some form of medical intervention, such as oxygen or resuscitation. A low score may reflect issues like difficulty breathing, a weak pulse, or low muscle tone, but babies often recover with proper care. If the score is low, doctors may provide immediate support, but most babies can bounce back with medical assistance. As for Ayurvedic practices, newborn oil massages are often recommended to strengthen the baby’s muscles, promote circulation, and calm the body. Additionally, the mother's diet plays a significant role in the baby’s health, and Ayurvedic tonics or herbs for the mother may be suggested to enhance nourishment and energy. However, these practices are typically complementary to medical care rather than a replacement for it. Many parents report that their babies' APGAR scores improved after initial medical care, and regular monitoring can ensure that any health concerns are addressed.

Carminozyme Drops

1 answers

My 3-year-old daughter often suffers from bloating and colic after meals, and it’s heartbreaking to see her in discomfort. I’ve heard about carminozyme drops as a natural way to ease digestive issues in children. Before I start using them, I want to know more about how carminozyme drops work and if they’re safe for toddlers. From what I understand, carminozyme drops are designed to relieve gas, bloating, and indigestion in young children. How much should I give her, and how often? Are there any specific instructions, like taking it before or after meals? Also, do carminozyme drops contain any artificial additives or chemicals, or are they completely herbal? I want to ensure there are no side effects or risks of dependency with long-term use. If anyone here has used carminozyme drops for their child, please share your experience. Did it work quickly, and were there any noticeable improvements in digestion?

Carminozyme drops are an Ayurvedic remedy commonly used to help children with digestive issues like bloating, colic, and indigestion. The formula typically contains a blend of natural herbs that support digestion and relieve gas. These drops work by helping to reduce bloating, ease discomfort, and promote overall digestive health. For a 3-year-old, the dosage is generally around 2-3 drops, 2-3 times a day, preferably after meals, but it’s essential to follow the specific dosage instructions provided on the product or by your pediatrician. Carminozyme drops are generally safe and herbal, but it's important to ensure they do not contain any artificial additives or chemicals. Long-term use should be monitored to avoid dependency, though it’s typically safe when used as directed. If your child has any underlying health conditions or is taking other medications, consult a healthcare provider first. Many parents report positive results with reduced bloating and improved digestion after a few days of use, but individual responses may vary.
