A few days ago, my uncle developed a strange rash on his back. At first, it was just small red spots, but then it started spreading in a line along one side of his body. The pain is unbearable, like a burning sensation deep inside, and the itching makes it worse. When we showed it to the doctor, they said it was nagin disease, which I later found out is another name for shingles. He was prescribed antiviral medicines, but even after a few days, the pain is not reducing much. The blisters are increasing, and he’s feeling very weak. He also has a slight fever on and off, and his energy levels are completely down. Some people told us that nagin disease is caused by stress or weak immunity, and others say it happens due to past chickenpox infection. We are really worried because the doctor mentioned that nerve pain from nagin disease can last even after the rashes go away. Since Ayurveda focuses on immunity and healing from within, I wanted to ask—what are the Ayurvedic remedies for nagin disease? Are there any herbal treatments that can help with the burning sensation and pain? Also, is there any Ayurvedic oil or paste that can be applied to the rashes to speed up healing? Another concern is whether nagin disease is contagious. Some people in the family are scared to go near him.
