For the past few months, I have been dealing with persistent sore throat, dry patches inside my mouth, and occasional difficulty swallowing. My doctor explained that these symptoms could be related to issues with the stratified squamous epithelium, which lines the throat, esophagus, and skin. I read that this type of epithelium provides protection against friction and injury, but it can become irritated due to infections, acid reflux, dehydration, or excessive heat in the body. I want to know if Ayurveda has natural ways to protect the epithelial lining, soothe irritation, and promote healing of mucous membranes. I also have a habit of consuming a lot of spicy and fried foods, which often leads to acidity and throat irritation—could my dietary habits be damaging my stratified squamous epithelium? Does Ayurveda classify epithelial inflammation as a Pitta or Kapha imbalance, and what are the best natural ways to heal the mucous lining and improve tissue regeneration?
