For the past few months, I’ve been feeling constantly exhausted, irritable, and stressed out. No matter how much sleep I get, I wake up feeling drained, and throughout the day, I experience sudden energy crashes. Along with this, I’ve noticed unexplained weight gain, especially around my belly, and I feel more anxious than usual. I started doing some research and came across information about cortisol, which is often referred to as the “stress hormone.” Now I’m wondering if my symptoms are related to high cortisol levels, but I don’t know how to check cortisol levels properly. I read that cortisol levels fluctuate throughout the day, peaking in the morning and decreasing at night. If that’s the case, what is the best time to test for accurate results? Are blood tests the most reliable method, or are saliva and urine tests better for measuring daily cortisol fluctuations? I also came across information that Ayurveda looks at cortisol balance differently from modern medicine.
