Taking ghee on an empty stomach can be helpful in small amounts for vata imbalance and digestion, but since you have frequent SEDT, it is better to take just 8 teaspoon with warm water rather than Al alone award, taking too much on an empty stomach and observe how you were body reacts. You can also take It after like breakfast, if acidity increases.

HELLO, At 53 years + menopause, the body is predominantly in a vata phase of life YOU HAVE -Vata dosha dominance -frequent, moderate acidity for > 6 months -regular exercise (which is good, but can aggravate vata if excessive) Acidity here is not purely pitta, it is often vata-pitta imbalance, where -vata makes digestion irregular -pitta causes burning, sour belching, reflux IS GHEE ON AN EMPTY STOMACH GOOD FOR YOU? YES- but only in the right way NO- if taken incorrectly WHY GHEE IS RECOMMENDED IN YOUR CASE In Ayurveda, cow’s ghee is -vata pacifying -pitta soothing (when digestion is weak/irritated) -deepana and rasayana (supports hormones, tissues, lubrication) FOR MENOPAUSAL WOMEN, GHEE HELPS -dryness (skin, joints, gut) -hormonal instability -anxiety, poor sleep -erratic digestion THE CATCH : ACIDITY + EMPTY STOMACH If you take plain ghee directly on an empty stomach, it can worsen acidity in people who have -chronic amlapitta -sensitive stomach -heat or reflux symptoms So method and dose matter greatly CORRECT WAY FOR YOU TO TAKE GHEE OPTION 1= BEST AND SAFEST METHOD Ghee with warm water -1/2 tsp cow’s ghee -mix into 1/2 cup warm water -take early morning, empty stomach This -lubricates gut -pacifies vata -does not irritate pitta -improves bowel movement and digestion OPTION 2= GHEE WITH DIGESTIVE SUPPORT (IF ACIDITY IS STRONG) GHEE. + WARM MILK (if tolerated) -1/2 tsp cow’s ghee -in 1/2 cup warm milk -add a pinch of dry ginger AVOID IF. MILK WORSENS ACIDITY FOR YOU WHAT YOU SHOULD NOT DO -Do not take 1 tablespoon or more -Do not take cold or refrigerated ghee -Do not take with lemon, honey or sour drinks -Do not take if you have active burning/reflux that morning HOW OFTEN? -3-4 times per week intially -daily only if digestion feels calm and light DIET -warm, freshly cooked meals -rice , oats, moong dal -cooked vegetables - lauki, pumpkin, carrot -coconut water, soaked almonds AVOID -coffee, excess tea -raw salads -tomatoes, citrus, vinegar -very spicy or fried foods -skipping meals WORKOUT since you exercise daily -avoid over exertion -prefer moderate intensity -include stretching, yoga, pranayam -avoid fasted HIIT or intense cardio Excess exercise + empty stomach= vata and acidity aggravation SIMPLE HOME REMDIES -soaked fennel seeds- 1 tsp overnight, chew in morning -coriander seed water during the day -shatavari powder= 1/2 tsp at night with warm milk- excellent for menopause DO FOLLOW HOPE THIS MIGHT BE HELPFUL THANK YOU DR. Do not take ghee on empty stomach may worsen acidity Take 1–2 tsp ghee with food (lunch is best) Morning warm water or coriander seed water instead Eat warm, cooked food and avoid long fasting Ghee is fine, just with meals, not empty stomach.

-❌ No, ghee on an empty stomach is not ideal for you. -You have frequent acidity (Pitta aggravation) Empty-stomach fat can trigger acid reflux Menopause + daily workouts already increase internal heat - What to do instead: ✔ Use ½–1 tsp ghee with warm food, not alone ✔ Add it to meals, not first thing in the morning

Thank you so very much for the answers to my questions. One more concern I have is hearing way too much noise in my tummy. Sometimes it is so embarrassing . Please advise what can I eat or do to get rid of this problem. Thank you.

Hello Sharda So glad you asked about ghee during menopause! It can be a real help or make acidity worse, depending on how and when you have it. Since you’re Vata-dominant, going through menopause, and get acidity a lot, this is super important for you YOUR CONCERN You’re 53, menopausal, work out regularly, are Vata, and get acidity often. Plus, you’re thinking about having ghee on an empty stomach. AYURVEDIC UNDERSTANDING: During menopause –Vata goes up, leading to dryness, anxiety, joint pain, and sleep problems. –Pitta is all over the place, causing hot flashes, acidity, and irritation. –Your digestion gets wonky. Ghee? It’s: –Great for Vata. –Cooling for Pitta. –But hard to digest if your digestion isn’t great. –So, it’s not just about whether ghee is good, but how to have it right for your body. Is ghee right for you? Yes – but not the usual way. Having plain ghee when you’ve got acidity can: –Make reflux worse. –Make you feel heavy. –Cause nausea. But, when you have it the right way, ghee: –Can heal your gut. –Calm hot flashes. –Help your joints. –Nourish your hormones. –Reduce dryness. Here’s what to do: –Don’t ever take plain ghee by itself. Instead, try this in the morning: ½ teaspoon cow ghee ½ teaspoon raw honey Warm water Have it on an empty stomach. This mix: –Stops acidity. –Helps digestion. –Balances Vata and Pitta. –Eases menopause stuff. When to stop: If you feel: –More burping –Heavy –Nauseous –Stop for a bit and start again with ¼ teaspoon. To help with acidity: At night: ½ tsp Amla powder with warm water. This will: –Cool your stomach. –Heal acidity. –Help your hormones. For someone like you, going through menopause, who’s Vata-dominant and acidic, ghee is kinda like medicine – but only if you have it the right way. –Help your digestion –Lessen hot flashes – Support your joints – Calm your nerves – Help your gut Warm Regards Dr. Snehal Vidhate

🌿 Ghee on Empty Stomach – Ayurvedic Perspective - General use: In Ayurveda, taking a small amount of ghee on an empty stomach is sometimes recommended for lubrication of tissues (snehana), balancing vata dosha, and supporting digestion. - For Vata dominance: Ghee is considered one of the best remedies to pacify vata, especially during menopause when dryness, joint stiffness, and mood fluctuations are common. - For acidity: Here’s the catch—ghee can soothe mild acidity if taken in moderation, but in some people it may worsen reflux if taken on an empty stomach without food to buffer it. ⚖️ Your Situation - Age & menopause: Ghee can help with dryness, joint health, and hormonal balance. - Daily workouts: Ghee provides healthy fats for energy and recovery. - Frequent acidity (>6 months, moderate): Empty stomach ghee may not be ideal because acidity is already aggravated. - Triggers from certain foods: Suggests your digestive fire (agni) is sensitive. ✅ Safer Alternatives Instead of plain ghee on an empty stomach, try these gentle options: - Warm water + ½ tsp ghee → Dilutes the fat, less likely to trigger reflux. - Ghee with lukewarm milk → Nourishes tissues, buffers acidity. - Ghee with soft food (like warm rice, moong dal khichdi, or roti) → Safer than empty stomach. - Timing: Mid-morning or with meals is better than early morning empty stomach for those with acidity. Warm Regards DR. ANJALI SEHRAWAT

Ghee on empty stomach is NOT good for you right now. Ghee is heavy, unctuous & mildly heating and on empty stomach it can increase acid production, slow digestion & worsen acidity/reflux in Pitta-Vata mixed types. Menopause already raises Pitta and on empty-stomach ghee often aggravates hot flashes, acidity & bloating in this phase. ✓When & How to Take Ghee Safely Best time: With meals (1–2 tsp in khichdi, dal, sabzi or warm milk at night) – lubricates gut, nourishes Vata, supports hormones without aggravating acidity. During day: Small amount with food only (never empty stomach). Night: Warm milk + ½–1 tsp ghee + pinch cardamom or Shatavari powder → very soothing for Vata & menopause dryness. ✓Quick Acidity Relief & Prevention Kamadhudha Ras – 250 mg twice daily with cold water Avipattikar Churna – 3 gm + cold water 30 min before dinner Avoid empty-stomach fats/oils, spicy/sour, caffeine, late dinner. Ghee is not freely taken by vata dosha person. Cow’s ghee is good, but benefits if taken in the right way. Take warm melted ghee , about 2tsp. Pour on rice/ roti,/ dal. And take it daily. For acidity symptoms you can take Kamdudharas moti yukta 1-0-1 after food with water Tablet Liv-52 1-0-1 after food with water. Do pranayam lom -vilom, bhastrika, bhamri, sheetali pranayam daily 5-10mins twice. Soak overnight coriander seeds+ fennel seeds+ jeera seeds, morning strain and drink empty stomach before breakfast,
