Kindly plz mention name of the medicines u are giving to children for proper answer by our side
Frequent colds with adenoids are common in children this age. Most Ayurvedic herbal syrups are generally safe if prescribed properly, but since the child became more irritable and unusually quiet after starting the medicine, it could possibly be a reaction or just coincidental with illness. I would suggest stopping the syrup for 1–2 days and observing the child. If the behavior improves, review the medicine .
What are those medicines prescribed ?
What medicines you are giving him ?

Please stop giving your son the Ayurvedic syrups immediately. Yes, the sudden crying, irritability and unusual silence are highly likely related to either the medicines or an acute complication of his condition. ✓Why is this happening? Gastric Irritation: Many commercial Ayurvedic syrups for colds and adenoids contain strong, heating (Ushna) herbs (like Ginger, Long Pepper, or Black Pepper) to melt Kapha (mucus). In a delicate 30-month-old stomach, these can cause severe acidity, burning, and nausea. A toddler cannot express this discomfort verbally, resulting in crying, irritability, and withdrawal. Secondary Ear Infection (Otitis Media): Enlarged adenoids frequently block the Eustachian tubes, which connect the throat to the ears. Your son might be acting silent and cranky because the cold has progressed into fluid buildup and painful pressure in his middle ear. ✓Clinical Action Plan & Prescription Discontinue Current Syrups: Halt all Ayurvedic syrups immediately to observe if his gastric distress and mood improve over the next 24 to 48 hours. Physical Ear Check: Gently press the small cartilage at the front of his ear canal or the bone just behind his ear. If he winces, pulls away, or cries sharply, he has an active ear infection and requires an immediate physical pediatric consultation. External Congestion Relief (Safe Alternative): Do not give oral medicines right now. Gently massage warm Sesame Oil mixed with a tiny pinch of rock salt (Saindhava Lavana) over his chest and upper back before bedtime to naturally loosen the phlegm without irritating his stomach. Strict Dietary Rules: Completely remove yogurt (curd), bananas, cold juices, and chocolates from his diet. These are heavy, cold, and directly increase the Kapha dosha, causing the adenoid tissues to swell further. Regards Dr Gursimran Jeet Singh MD Panchakarma
