Hi Mercy,

I’m so sorry for your loss, and I can imagine how difficult this must be for you. Can you tell me if you experience any pelvic pain, changes in your menstrual cycle, or other urinary symptoms like burning or discomfort? Additionally, do you feel any stress or emotional strain that could be affecting your overall well-being? Understanding these details can help guide a holistic approach to support your reproductive health.

Dear Mercy,

I’m deeply sorry for your loss and understand your strong desire to conceive again. Experiencing a uterine rupture during induction after a previous cesarean section (C-section) is a significant event that can impact future pregnancies. Additionally, recurrent urinary tract infections (UTIs) following your menstrual periods can further complicate your health and fertility. Let’s explore these concerns and discuss potential steps Consultation with gynaecologist • Seek care from a specialist experienced in high-risk pregnancies to evaluate the integrity of your uterine scar and assess your overall reproductive health. Engage in thorough counseling to understand the risks and benefits associated with a subsequent pregnancy, including the timing and mode of delivery. • If you conceive, your pregnancy will likely be closely monitored, with plans for an early-term elective cesarean delivery

Experiencing UTIs after your menstrual period can be distressing and may affect your fertility journey. Factors such as hormonal changes, menstrual hygiene products, and residual blood can contribute to bacterial growth, increasing UTI risk. Maintain Proper Hygiene: • Wipe from front to back after using the bathroom to prevent bacterial migration from the anus to the urethra. • Change sanitary products regularly during menstruation. Stay Hydrated: • Drink plenty of water to help flush out bacteria through regular urination. • Avoid holding urine for long periods, as this can encourage bacterial growth. • Urinate before and after sexual activity to flush out bacteria. Avoid scented products on your genital area, as they can irritate and alter the pH balance, increasing infection susceptibility. Probiotics may help reduce the recurrence of vaginal and urinary tract infections by promoting a balanced microbiome.

Navigating fertility challenges and recurrent health issues can be emotionally taxing. Consider seeking support from counseling services or support groups to help manage stress and maintain mental well-being during this journey.

Remember, while these steps can help manage and reduce the risk of complications, it’s crucial to work closely with your healthcare team to develop a personalized plan tailored to your specific health needs and fertility goals.

Wishing you strength and success on your path to motherhood.

Best regards.

I’m truly sorry to hear what you’ve gone through, and it’s understandable that you’re eager to welcome a baby. Handling both past trauma and the hope for new beginnings can be really tough, so please be gentle with yourself as you navigate this. Integrating Ayurveda into your journey can be a soothing and nourishing approach.

Let’s start with looking at your body’s balance. Ayurveda focuses on balancing the three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. Given your circumstances, Vata dosha may need some extra attention since it’s often associated with stress, anxiety, and irregular bodily functions. This imbalance might be contributing to repeated UTIs as well.

1. Diet and Herbs: Incorporate warming, nourishing foods like cooked vegetables and grains such as rice and wheat. Use ghee and spice like cumin, cardamom, and ginger to aid in digestion. A good herb to consider is Shatavari, known for its supportive qualities in female reproduction and hormonal balance. Taking it as a powder with warm milk before bed can be beneficial.

2. Lifestyle Adjustments: Focus on a regular daily routine, waking up and going to bed at the same time may sound simple, but it can make a huge difference. Try yoga or meditation to help calm Vata energy—practices like alternate nostril breathing or even restorative yoga poses could be beneficial.

3. Addressing UTIs: Likes I said, staying hydrated can naturally help flush out bacteria. Try drinking cranberry juice or adding a teaspoon of coriander seeds to water, then boiling it, cooling it and drink through the day. But please, please, consult a medical professional if UTIs persist or worsen, as they might need more attention.

Keep in mind, patience and consistency are key. You’re nurturing your entire system back into balance, so take little steps. I also recommend consulting with an Ayurvedic pratitioner in person, someone who can better assess your unique constitution (prakriti) and current imbalances (vikriti). Keep hope alive—our body is resilient and has amazing healing potential!
