Heavy bleeding - #20159

Muskan

I got my periods on 23 Feb but it was spotting for a week and then 1 week later proper flow started. It didn't stop for another 20 days and i had to eat nostra CR 10 and Normoz tablet to stop it. I took these for 5 days, bleeding stopped. But again today 29 March bleeding started. I'm not sure if this is normal period or this will also go on for days. I just don't want to rely on pills to stop bleeding. Can you suggest something natural. I also have pcos. The same issue occurred last year too.

Managing heavy or irregular bleeding can indeed be quite challenging, especially with PCOS in the picture. This irregular bleeding suggests an imbalance in your body’s doshas, particularly Pitta and Vata, which might be affecting your menstrual health. The key here is to incorporate a few lifestyle and dietary changes that can help manage your symptoms naturally and holistically.

First up, diet plays a crucial role. With PCOS and heavy bleeding, you might want to incorporate foods that are naturally cooling and pacify Pitta. Think of foods like cucumber, melons, and leafy greens. Avoiding spicy, oily, and processed foods can also be quite essential. Instead, aim for foods high in fiber and low in sugar to balance blood sugar levels—PCOS management thrives with this kind of diet.

In your daily routine, consider starting your day with a teaspoon of aloe vera juice mixed with a pinch of turmeric. Aloe vera is known to support uterine health and turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties. You can also try shatavari, an ayurvedic herb that supports female hormonal health and can be found in many health stores. Start with a half teaspoon in warm milk, once or twice daily.

Yoga or light exercises like walking can be beneficial too. They enhance circulation and help in balancing Vata, which contributes to a regular cycle. Make sure you stay well-hydrated but avoid chilled drinks. Warm water or herbal teas such as ginger or fennel can be soothing.

It’s crucial to monitor your bleeding and, if persists or is excessive in nature, don’t hesitate to seek further medical advice. Ayurvedic approaches often take time to show results, and professional opinion might be needed to ensure there isn’t a more serious underlying condition.

Some ayurvedic treatments and practices might not substitute the need for conventional medication, especially if symptoms are intense or persist. Ideally, consult an Ayurveda doctor, who can provide tailored guidance based on your Prakriti (body constitution) and specific condition.
