Addressing bloating and inflammation, especially when coupled with nasal congestion and cough, requires understanding your body’s dosha imbalance. In Ayurveda, this often points towards a Kapha or Vata imbalance, which can slow down your metabolism and digestion while contributing to mucus accumulation.

To start with reducing bloating, consider your diet closely. Avoid excessive consumption of cold foods, dairy, and heavy meals - these can aggravate Kapha, leading to more congestion and weight gain. Instead, focus on warm, light, and cooked meals that include spices that aid digestion, like ginger, cumin, and turmeric, which can help strengthen your Agni, or digestive fire. Try beginning your meals with a small piece of ginger sprinkled with rock salt to stimulate your digestive secretions.

Pungent, bitter, and astringent tastes can help to balance Kapha, so include plenty of leafy green vegetables, pepper, and legumes in your diet. Drinking warm herbal teas such as fennel or peppermint may also be beneficial in reducing bloating and clear nasal passages as well.

Regarding lifestyle, try to eat your main meal at noon when your digestive fire is strongest and avoid late night eating. Establish a regular routine that includes waking up early (around sunrise) and physical activities that invigorate, like brisk walking, and yoga, specifically forward bends and twists, which help with digestion.

In terms of nasal congestion and recurrent cough, steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil is soothing and helps in clearing nasal congestion. Nasya, or instillation of medicated oils in the nostrils, can also be useful for balancing Vata and Kapha imbalances. Consult a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner to find a suitable formulation for you.

Consider a simple detoxification routine such as Panchakarma, under proper guidance, which can help remove deep-seated toxins and restore your body’s natural balance. Keep hydrated but remember not to consume excess water immediately before or after meals as this can dilute digestive juices.

Finally, stress plays a significant role in digestion and overall health, so engaging in relaxation techniques such as meditation or pranayama (breath control exercises) can also improve your body’s response to stress, aiding both digestion and weight loss efforts. Look at losing weight not as a goal but a result of achieving balance across diet, lifestyle, and mental peace.
