Addressing the underlying cause of your allergy symptoms is crutial in Ayurveda. Seasonal allergies and chronic congestion are often linked to an imbalance in Kapha dosha, which is associated with the elements of earth and water. Excess Kapha in the body can lead to mucus build-up and respiratory issues. The goal is to pacify Kapha while supporting your overall balance.

Firstly, you’ve already made some dietary changes, but we can refine them a bit further. Kapha-pacifying diet should include light, warm, and dry foods. Incorporate more spices such as ginger, pepper, and turmeric in your meals, as these spices have cleansing properties and can help in clearing excess mucus. Avoiding cold, heavy, and oily foods can also be beneficial. Try to limit sweet, sour, and salty tastes as well, as these can increase Kapha.

Steaming can be very helpful in this case. Consider doing a steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil or thyme. Boil water, add a few drops of essential oil, and inhale the steam for about 10 minutes. This helps in loosening mucus and clearing the sinuses.

Nasya, the practice of administering oil into nostrils, can also be effective. Anu taila or sesame oil can be used. Lie down with your head tilted back, and place a couple of drops of the oil in each nostril, then sniff gently. This practice can reduce congestion and improve breathing.

Practicing regular yoga and pranayama can also support your respiratory health. Breathing exercises like Kapalabhati and Anulom-Vilom may assist in clearing nasal passages and strengthen lung function.

Lastly, to help reduce reliance on antihistamines, consider incorporating herbs like Tulsi (Holy basil) and Ashwagandha which might help boost immunity and decrease allergic responses over time.

Should symptoms persist, or worsen, it is important to seek advice from a healthcare provider to ensure there’s no need for more immediate treatment.

Reducing dependence on antihistamines requires addressing underlying imbalances causing your symptoms. In Siddha-Ayurveda, these symptoms might be linked to an imbalance in the Kapha dosha, which can accumulate excess mucus in the respiratory system. To bring balance, focusing on your diet and lifestyle is necessary.

Firstly, consider warming and light foods that help reduce Kapha. Consuming warm water, herbal teas with ginger, tulsi, and turmeric can be beneficial. Incorporate spices like black pepper, cloves, and cinnamon in your meals. Maintain a regular eating schedule and avoid late-night eating as it can disrupt digestion.

Since you have already stopped certain food items, emphasize easily digestible foods. Rice, barley, and millets can be integrated as part of the diet. Avoid processed foods, cold drinks, and sugary items, as they may exacerbate Kapha-related issues.

Daily practices may include the use of steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil to clear nasal passage. Practicing regular pranayama, particularly Anulom Vilom and Bhastrika, can improve respiratory health.

You might benefit from supplements like trikatu churna (a combination of black pepper, long pepper, and ginger) to boost metabolism and clear mucus. Start with small doses and observe any reactions.

To ensure balanced agni (digestive fire), consider taking Chyawanprash, a well-known Ayurvedic tonic that strengthens the immune system and reduces allergic reactions.

Chronic conditions should be monitored closely. If symptoms persist, it’s advisable to consult a Siddha-Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized remedies that consider your specific body’s constitution and lifestyle.
