In Ayurveda, dark circles are usually caused by -vata and pitta imbalance -vitiation of blood tissue -insufficient sleep -dryness and - sluggish metabolism leading to poor tissue nourishment

Sometimes stress, excess screen time, or chronic fatigue also aggravate vata ad cause pigmentation under the eyes

DIETARY MANAGEMENT -warm, freshly prepared lightly spiced food -ghee and sesame oil for internal lubrication -green leafy vegetables, beetroot , pomegranate, amla (vitamin c rich food) -soaked almonds 2-3/day -cow’s milk with a pinch of turmeric at night -coriander, cumin, fennel ,cardamom tea for detoxifying blood

AVOID -excess spicy,sour, fried or processed foods -latenight meals or caffeine -alcohol and smoking -skipping meals or irregular eating tims

LIFESTYLE -Adequate sleep= 7-8 hours, ideally 10pm-6 am -Eye rest= reduce screen time, follow 20-20-20 rule (every 20 min, look 20 ft away for 20 seconds)

YOGA AND PRANAYAM -anulom vilom 5-10 min -bhramari= 3-5 min -shavasaa= for stress relief

-OIL MASSAGE= weekly whole body massage with sesame oil to balance vata

HYDRATION= warm water freuqnetly through the body

TOPICAL AYUREVEDIC REMEDIES apply once daily preferably evening

1) KUMKUMADI TAILA -gently dab 1-2 drops under eyes before bedtime =improves complexion, circulation, and reduces pigmentation

2) ALOE VERA + SANDALWOOD PASTE -mix 1/2 tsp aloe vera gel with a pinch of sandalwood powder; apply the layer under eyes for 10-15 mi;rinse with lukewarm water =cooling and pitta pacifying

It's not just about performing the therapy, but understanding timing, patient strength, diet before and after, and how their mind-body reacts to cleansing. I learnt to watch closely, adjust small details, and guide them through the whole process safely. My approach is always patient-centric. I don’t believe in pushing the same package to everyone. I first assess prakriti, agni, mental state, lifestyle, then decide what works best. Sometimes full Panchakarma isn’t even needed — simple modifications, herbs, or limited therapy sessions can bring results. And when full shodhana is required, I plan it in detail with proper purvakarma & aftercare, cause that’s what makes outcomes sustainable. The last few years made me more confident not just in procedures but in the philosophy behind them. Panchakarma isn’t a quick fix — it demands patience, discipline, trust. But when done right, it gives relief that lasts, and that’s why I keep refining how I practice it.

Darkness under the eyes, known as dark circles, can be influenced by a hostor of factors. From an Ayurvedic viewpoint, they are often linked to an imbalance in the doshas, primarily Pitta and Vata. To address this, we should look at both external applications and internal balance.

For topical application, a mix of almond oil and rose water can be quite beneficial. Almond oil nourishes with its Vitamin E content, and rose water, being cooling and anti-inflammatory, can help reduce any potential swelling and help in lightening the dark circles. Use a few drops of almond oil mixed with rose water, apply it gently under your eyes before bed every night. Wash it off in the morning with lukewarm water.

Internally, staying hydrated is crucial. Drink warm water throughout the day to flush out toxins. Adding fennel or rose petals to your water can aid in this, as they help balance Pitta dosha. Alongside this, ensure you’re getting adequate sleep – 7-8 hours as a minimum without distractions; sleep is essential to balance Vata and Pitta and rejuvenate your body.

Diet plays a significant role in maintaining skin health. Incorporate foods rich in antioxidants, such as amla and turmeric. Having a glass of amla juice every morning may support in clearing skin complexion. Turmeric, whether in cooking or as golden milk before bedtime, can also aid due to its antioxidant properties.

It’s not uncommon for stress and irregular sleep to contribute to these symptoms, so it’s important to address these through practices that help balance your doshas, particularly Vata.

Protect it with sunglasses while going out and consider applying a natural sunscreen for added protection. Consistency and patience with these remedies would provide gradual but effective results. Because when someone knows *why* they’re doing a certain thing, they stick with it longer, and the results hold. One thing I’ve learned while working here is how powerful Ayurved can be when it's structured right. At Ayushakti, that structure exists. It helps me treat confidently and track results properly. Whether I’m working with a first-time visitor or a patient who’s been dealing with the same thing for 10 years, my goal stays the same—help their system return to a natural, sustainable state of balance.
