Addressing those persistent dark spots around the mouth involves a gentle, yet effective approach, especially when dealing with sensitive skin. In the Siddha-Ayurvedic tradition, we look at the body’s doshas, as imbalances often manifest on the skin. Dark spots could be a sign of aggravated pitta dosha, particularly if there’s sensitivity involved.
First, ensure your daily diet reduces pitta-aggravating foods: limit spicy, oily, and acidic foods, as these could be contributing factors. Incorporate cooling vegetables like cucumbers and melons, and drink plenty of water infused with a touch of coriander seeds to soothe internal heat.
For topical application, a natural turmeric paste can help lighten pigmentation without harsh chemicals. Mix a pinch of turmeric with sandalwood powder and rose water to create a paste. Apply it to the affected areas and leave it on for about 15 minutes before gently rinsing off. This can be done two to three times a week.
Additionally, a gentle massage with pure coconut oil or almond oil can be beneficial. Massage in a circular motion, which may enhance circulation and encourage healing. Do this daily, ideally before bedtime, since it can also nourish the skin overnight.
For sensitive skin, lemon juice is indeed too abrasive. Instead, opt for a soothing herbal decoction wash with neem leaves and aloe vera juice. Neem is known for its skin-healing properties, and aloe vera offers moisture without the harshness of lemon.
Address the root cause by managing stress and supporting digestion, critical for balanced agni (digestive fire). Employ deep breathing exercises and regular yoga, which help maintain equilibrium in the body. If the condition persists despite these measures, it may be necessary to consult with a professional to rule out deeper systemic issues.
