what is the main cause of hair fall - #39136

Stella

I am really concerned about my hair lately. I've never had issues with falling hair before, but over the last few months, I've noticed so much hair fall. It's honestly kinda scary! I mean, I’m only in my late 20s, and I've been trying to take care of my hair. I wash it with mild shampoo and avoid heat styling, but still, every time I brush or wash my hair, I see tons of strands coming out. I even tried switching shampoos to something more natural, but the situation just keeps getting worse. I started thinking maybe stress could be a factor since I’ve been running around with work and family stuff, but I don’t know. I went to my regular doctor, and they mentioned hormonal changes might contribute, but it all just feels overwhelming. And then I come across all these articles saying different things. Like, what is the main cause of hair fall? Is it really just hormonal or could there be something more to it like dietary issues or lack of nutrients? I’m kind of tired of searching online, and it’s making me anxious. Any tips or natural remedies would be awesome too! Thanks for any help you can offer!

The main cause of hair fall can be multifaceted, and Ayurveda offers a comprehensive approach which is both fascinating and effective. From an Ayurvedic perspective, hair fall is often linked to imbalances in the doshas, particularly Pitta dosha. This can be influenced by stress, hormonal changes, dietary habits, lifestyle choices or environmetal factors. Let’s dive into some specific areas you might want to focus on:

Stress is indeed a significant factor; chronic stress can elevate the Pitta dosha, leading to issues such as hair thinning and breakage. Consider incorporating stress-reducing practices into your daily routine, like Yoga or meditation for at least 15-20 minutes each day. These practices can help balance Vata and Pitta doshas, while enhancing overall well-being.

Your diet plays a pivotal role in maintaining healthy hair. Ensure you consume a variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, and protein-rich foods. Nutrients like iron, zinc, biotin and omega-3 fatty acids are essential for hair health. Incorporate foods like spinach, almonds and flaxseeds to your daily meals. Consuming a tablespoon of ghee daily can help to nourish the scalp and strengthen the hair from the roots.

Scalp massage with herbal oils can be wonderfully beneficial. Consider using oils like Bhringraj Oil or Amla Oil – warm them slightly and massage into your scalp weekly to improve blood circulation and nourish hair follicles. Leave it on for an hour or overnight before washing with mild shampoo.

Avoid hot water while washing hair, as it can elevate Pitta and lead to further hair weakness. Lukewarm or cold water is preferable.

Monitor your sleeping patterns as lack of sleep can exacerbate stress levels. Aim for 7-8 hours per night.

In cases where you suspect hormonal imbalances, it would be prudent to consult with a specialist who can offer tailored advice. They may explore areas like thyroid function or other underlying health issues far more deeply.

Avoid frequent switching of hair products; allow time for natural products to take effect. Though they may seem slower than chemical treatments, patience is key in seeing positive changes.

Remember, hair loss can also be seasonal or temporary, linked to your current environmental conditions or even the time of year. Maintain a balanced lifestyle, and you should see gradual improvement. If the situation persists or worsens, it is always a good idea to seek further professional guidance to eliminate any possible underlying conditions.
