Hair fall related to thyroid and blood pressure medications is a common concern. Underlying hormonal imbalances or side effects from medication can contribute to this issue. From an Ayurvedic perspective, hair health is intricately connected to the balance of doshas, especially Vata and Pitta. When these doshas are imbalanced, especially Pitta, it can lead to excessive hair fall.
To address your concern, I suggest focusing on a holistic approach. Firstly, incorporate a Pitta-pacifying diet. This means having cooling, hydrating foods like cucumber, kale, and fennel. Avoid spicy, oily, and fried foods as they can aggravate Pitta and potentially worsen hair fall. It’s also beneficial to keep your meals consistent and regular, supporting your body’s metabolic processes.
Herbal supplements like Amla can be highly beneficial for hair health. Amla is rich in Vitamin C and antioxidants, which nourish hair roots and support hair growth. Take it daily with warm water after meals. Another helpful remedy is Bhringraj oil; massage it gently into your scalp twice a week to strengthen hair roots and promote thicker hair.
Ensure adequate hydration alongside and manage stress effectively, as stress can exacerbate hair fall. Regularly practice yoga and meditation if possible. Both practices are excellent for maintaining mental calm and balancing hormones.
For supplementation, ensure appropriate levels of Vitamin D, biotin, and iron in your diet or through supplements as they assist in reducing hair fall. Before introducing new supplements, it’s wise to discuss them with your allopathic physician to avoid any conflict with your existing medications.
Lastly, remember while these Ayurvedic remedies can be supportive adjuncts, consistent medical follow-up for thyroid and BP should remain a priority to manage the underlying causes effectively.
