Facial pigmentation and premature greying both can be connected to underlying imbalances in your doshas, particularly Pitta dosha, which may be resulting from lifestyle or dietary habits. In Siddha-Ayurveda, addressing these issues involves looking at the root causes and making some lifestyle changes.
To start with pigmentation, I recommend using a paste made from sandalwood powder and turmeric mixed with a bit of fresh aloe vera gel. Apply this to the affected areas of your face daily. It can help to balance Pitta and has a soothing and cooling effect. Eating a diet high in fruits and vegetables, especially ones like pomegranate and leafy greens, can also be beneficial as they have natural antioxidants. Monitor your sleep, as irregular patterns can exacerbate these issues.
For grey hair, a blend of amla (Indian gooseberry) and sesame oil can be applied to the scalp. Amla is known in Ayurveda to richen hair pigmentation and balance the aggravated Pitta, while sesame oil is nourishing. Incorporate amla into your diet too, either fresh if accessible or in powder form. Additionally, avoid excess consumption of spicy, sour, and salty foods, as these can elevate Pitta further.
Practicing regular yoga and breathing exercises (like pranayama) can greatly help in reducing stress, which might be contributing to the early graying. Stay consistent with these practices for visible results over time. If these pigmentation or greying concerns continue or worsen, visiting a Siddha-Ayurvedic practitioner may provide a more personalized treatment approach.
