Irregular periods, along with confirmed PCOS and acne, can indicate an imbalance in your doshas, specifically kapha and vata influencing your reproductive system. Ayurveda considers that PCOS is a result of accumulated kapha dosha in the reproductive organs. This often disturbs a normal menstrual cycle, adding conditions like acne.
First, address your diet. While you’re eating healthy, ensure it’s aligned with reducing kapha. Limit dairy products, especially cheese and yogurt, and cut down sugar intake. Favor warm, light meals such as cooked vegetables, whole grains like millet and quinoa, seasoned with spices that stimulate agni (digestive fire), like cumin, ginger, and fennel. Avoid heavy or cold foods that increase kapha.
Regular physical activity helps balance vata and kapha. Practicing yoga, focusing on postures that target the pelvic area, can aid in promoting better circulation and cleansing. Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation) and Baddha Konasana (Bound Angle Pose) could be beneficial. Remember to integrate pranayama techniques like kapalbhati and anulom-vilom to balance hormones and energies.
Herbal remedies can also support your treatment. Triphala churna is known to help digest metabolic toxins and supports the menstrual cycle. Ashwagandha may stabilize mood and support hormonal balance, while Shatavari is renowned for female reproductive health. Consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized dosage.
Managing stress is critical since it can aggravate vata and impact menstrual health. Embark on meditation practices or whatever method helps you unwind at the day’s end. Sleep is equally crucial – ensure you rest adequately, ideally in a set pattern, to support your body’s rhythm.
While Ayurveda can support your condition, it’s essential to continue consulting with healthcare professionals. Let them regularly monitor your progress and adjust any necessary treatments.
