Eczema with oozing, itching, and swelling can be quite distressing, especially with your digestive concerns. Ayurveda views eczema through the lens of dosha imbalances, primarily Kapha and Pitta doshas. In your case, addressing these imbalances through diet can help.
Start by incorporating more foods that pacify Pitta and Kapha. Favor warm, light, and easily digestible foods. Begin your day with a warm glass of water with a little ginger or ajwain, helping to stimulate your Agni, the digestive fire. Rice, mung dal (green gram), and well-cooked vegetables like zucchini, carrots, and squash are good choices. They’re gentle on a weak stomach and do not aggravate the skin condition.
Include turmeric and neem in your diet if possible. Turmeric works as an anti-inflammatory and can be consumed with warm milk, preferably with a pinch of black pepper to enhance absorption. Neem leaves, taken as a light tea, can help detoxification and support the skin’s health, though using neem needs caution if digestive sensitivity is present as it can cool and further weaken digestion.
Avoid spicy, oily, and fermented foods as they can aggravate Pitta and indirectly affect your skin. Limit the intake of sour and salty flavors as these can increase Kapha, worsening oozing and swelling. Since your teeth health restricts you from eating sweets, this aligns with the recommendation to avoid sweets which could aggravate Kapha dosha.
Also, consider drinking coriander seed water or fennel seed tea to help manage acidity and gas. Soak a teaspoon of either seed overnight in water, then drink the strained water in the morning. Ensure regular meals at consistent times to avoid further digestive disturbances.
Externally, applying coconut oil with a bit of turmeric to soothe itching and promote healing might also be beneficial. Keep away from environmental triggers like cold and ensure feet are dry and warm, preferably using cotton socks indoors. If symptoms exacerbate seek an ayurvedic practitioner for a more detailed, in-person assessment.
