Ah, psoriasis, that’s one tricky customer indeed. First off, it’s awesome to hear you’re 75% clear! That’s a huge milestone, and you’re doing something right. But moving to the Gulf and not having access to your usual meds can be a bit of a curveball. So, let’s see what we can do from an ayurvedic perspective.
Firstly, psoriasis is all about that Kapha and Vata imbalance - there’s too much of that in your system right now. The key is to purify your blood and bring balance back to your body. Have you tried incorporating more bitter and astringent foods? Things like bitter gourd, neem, and turmeric. They help detoxify and get rid of those black marks more quickly.
When it comes to external application, you might not have access to everything there, but coconut oil is usually easy to find and works wonders for keeping your skin moisturized without causing irritation. Mix it with turmeric or neem powder if you can. Slather that on the affected areas before bed, let it soak in overnight.
Another thing worth mentioning is stress. I get it, especially if you’re in a new environment. Stress can aggravate psoriasis, so if it’s possible, try meditation or simple deep-breathing exercises daily. Even 10 min a day can make a difference.
Don’t forget your digestive fire, or “Agni” in Ayurvedic terms. Avoid heavy, oily foods and instead, go for lighter, home-cooked meals. Drink plenty of water but avoid chilled ones; lukewarm is better as it helps digestion and keeps toxins at bay.
Lastly, sunlight helps too. I’m not suggesting to roast yourself, but a little bit of morning sun can do wonders for your skin. Vitamin D plays its role in keeping psoriasis in check.
On a serious note, if your condition worsens or you feel it’s getting out of hand, please, see a doctor. It’s essential to combine Ayurvedic treatments with modern medicine when necessary. That said, consistency is your best friend. Keep at it, even if it’s just small daily habits. Your skin is turning a corner, even if it takes time!
