Doctors’ responses
If you're dealing with hair fall and dandruff, combining conventional care with Ayurvedic treatments could be beneficial. Here’s a concise approach that combines both strategies:
1. Scalp and Hair Health
Medicated Shampoos: Use ketoconazole or zinc pyrithione shampoos to treat dandruff and soothe the scalp.
Gentle Hair Care: Use sulfate-free products, avoid heat styling, and handle hair gently while washing and drying.
2. Ayurvedic Remedies for Hair Growth and Dandruff
Bhringraj: Apply Bhringraj oil to the scalp to promote growth and prevent hair fall.
Amla: Use Amla oil or a paste of Amla powder to nourish the scalp and reduce hair fall.
Neem: Apply Neem oil or a Neem paste to fight dandruff and scalp infections.
Fenugreek: Soak fenugreek seeds, grind them into a paste, and apply to the scalp to treat dandruff and support hair growth.
Brahmi: Use Brahmi oil to reduce stress (a key factor in hair loss) and enhance hair growth.
3. Moisturization and Nourishment
Coconut Oil: Massage warm coconut oil into your scalp to deeply nourish hair and combat dryness.
Aloe Vera: Apply fresh aloe vera gel to soothe the scalp, reduce dandruff, and strengthen hair.
4. Internal Support
Diet: Ensure a balanced diet with nutrients like iron, vitamin D, zinc, and omega-3 fatty acids. Consider taking Amla or Ashwagandha to boost hair health and reduce stress.
Triphala: Take Triphala internally to detoxify and promote healthy hair growth.
5. Stress Management: Stress is a major factor in hair loss. Incorporate relaxation techniques such as yoga, meditation, or deep breathing exercises.
6. Consult a Specialist: If hair loss persists despite home treatments, consider seeing a dermatologist or Ayurvedic practitioner for a tailored approach.
This combined approach—using both Ayurvedic herbs and modern hair care practices—should help address both hair fall and dandruff while nourishing and strengthening your hair.

Ah, I see. You've been grappling with hair fall for quite some time and it sounds frustrating. Ayurveda looks at hair fall as connected to an imbalance in your doshas, perhaps mainly Pitta. When Pitta gets aggravated, it can heat up your system causing hair loss and other issues like dandruff. Let’s dive into this with a few steps.
First things first, focus on cooling down that Pitta. You can try washing your hair with amla water twice a week. Boil a handful of dried amla or Indian gooseberry in water, let it cool and use this as a rinse after your shampoo – it helps keep the scalp cool and nourished.
About oils, it sounds like you react with dandruff – tricky, right? How about trying a gentle head massage with coconut oil infused with neem leaves? Neem is great for tackling dandruff. Just warm a small amount of coconut oil with some fresh (or dried) neem leaves, let it cool and strain it. Massage it lightly before washing your hair, maybe twice a week. But if you notice any irritation or the dandruff gets worse, stop.
Let's also talk about diet. Keep it balanced with plenty of green veg, protein, and healthy fats. Make sure you're getting enough vitamin C and iron too, as they support hair health. Hydration is key, drink water, and herbal teas for overall balance. Triphala tea can be a good start for its cleansing properties.
Please take a peek at your daily routine – are you getting enough rest? Stress can play a big part in hair health, so try to squeeze in some meditation or yoga, even if it's only a few minutes a day. Could make a big diff!
If things don't improve, it’s best to consult a practitioner for a personalized assessment. They can dive deeper into your specific prakriti and find the root of these issues. And hey, if anything feels severe or out of hand, don't hesitate to reach out to medical professionals. Hair health often points to deeper body imbalances, so resolving this could lead to feeling way better overall.
