kidney damage symptoms - #18837

Anonymously

Lately, I’ve been experiencing some unexplained fatigue, swelling in my ankles, and difficulty concentrating. I’m concerned that these could be signs of kidney damage, as I’ve read that kidney problems can sometimes cause symptoms that are easy to overlook. I’ve had some issues with high blood pressure in the past, and I’m worried that this could have affected my kidney function. What are the early kidney damage symptoms, and how can I tell if what I’m experiencing is related to kidney problems? From what I’ve read, kidney damage symptoms can include things like swelling, changes in urine output, and fatigue. How common are these symptoms, and what should I look out for as potential red flags? I’ve noticed that my urine has been a little darker than usual, and I’m wondering if that’s related to kidney issues. Is dark urine always a sign of kidney damage, or could it be something else like dehydration or a urinary tract infection? I’ve also read that kidney damage can lead to high blood pressure, and I’ve been struggling with my blood pressure for a while. Could my blood pressure issues be linked to kidney damage? If my kidneys aren’t functioning properly, could that be contributing to my fatigue and dizziness as well? I’m concerned about the connection between kidney function and my overall health, and I want to know how to recognize the signs early on so I can seek treatment. Since I’ve been dealing with some of these symptoms, I’m wondering what tests I should ask my doctor to run. I’ve heard that blood tests and urine tests are important for assessing kidney health—what specific tests should I be asking for to check for kidney damage? Are there any particular markers in blood or urine that can indicate kidney damage, and how early can these tests detect problems? Lastly, I want to know how kidney damage symptoms are treated. If I’m diagnosed with kidney damage, what treatment options are available to slow the progression of the condition and preserve kidney function? Are there lifestyle changes, such as dietary adjustments or medications, that can help protect my kidneys and prevent further damage? If anyone has experience with kidney damage or knows about kidney damage symptoms, I’d appreciate hearing about your experiences and any advice you have on recognizing and managing the condition.

While your concerns about kidney health are valid, it's crucial to seek a healthcare professional for thorough evaluation and guidance on your symptoms. In Ayurveda, fatigue, swelling in the ankles, and concentration issues could indicate an imbalance in doshas, particularly involving kapha and possibly some ama (toxins) accumulation. Your past hypertension might hint at a connection to kidney health. Dark urine can result from dehydration, a urinary tract infection, or other factors, but if you are experiencing other symptoms, a comprehensive assessment is important. You should mention your fatigue, swelling, and changes in urine to your doctor, who may suggest specific tests like serum creatinine, blood urea nitrogen (BUN), and urine analysis, which can reveal information about kidney function, including proteinuria and hematuria—signs of kidney distress. In terms of treatment, if kidney damage is confirmed, Ayurveda emphasizes dietary changes such as reducing salty and processed foods, and focusing on hydration—drinking ample water infused with cooling herbs like coriander and cumin to support renal function. You might also benefit from incorporating herbal supplements such as Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) and Punarnava (Boerhaavia diffusa) known for their supportive qualities, but only under professional guidance. Lifestyle changes that include regular gentle exercise, stress management through practices like yoga and meditation, and maintaining a balanced daily routine will also be beneficial. Please follow up with a healthcare provider to address your symptoms and discuss these insights, ensuring you receive safe, effective care tailored to your needs.

Hi shumaila Your swollen legs, body swelling (especially fingers), and restlessness at night are likely due to: 1. Fluid retention (Edema) – Due to high blood pressure & arthritis. 2. Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) Inflammation – Even though you stopped medicine, RA can still cause swelling. Start onTab. 1. singnada guggulu 1 tab twice daily before food with lukewarm water 2. Tab. Yograj guggulu 1 tab twice daily before food with lukewarm water • 1 tsp soaked methi (fenugreek) seeds + warm water 👉 Reduces inflammation & helps joint pain. Coriander & Jeera Water for Swelling • 1 tsp dhaniya (coriander) seeds + ½ tsp jeera (cumin) in 1 glass water (boil & drink warm). Turmeric & Ginger Tea (Twice Daily) • ½ tsp turmeric + 1-inch ginger boiled in water ✅ Aloe Vera Juice (10 ml daily on an empty stomach) Mustard Oil Massage (Daily Before Bed) • Warm mustard oil + garlic and massage your legs & fingers. 👉 Improves circulation & reduces stiffness/swelling. Include • High-fiber veggies – Lauki, tori, methi, palak. • Anti-inflammatory fruits – Papaya, oranges, pomegranate. • Omega-3 rich foods – Flaxseeds, walnuts, soaked almonds. • Protein sources – Moong dal, curd, paneer (avoid red meat). Avoid These (They Increase Swelling & Joint Pain): Salt & processed foods (increase fluid retention). Sugar & refined carbs (worsen RA inflammation). Dairy (except curd & buttermilk) (triggers joint pain in some RA patients). Feet Elevation – Keep legs raised for 10 minutes 3 times daily. Stay Hydrated – Drink 2-3 liters of warm water daily (flushes out swelling-causing toxins). Light Exercise – Walking & stretching improves circulation & reduces joint stiffness. Salt Water Foot Soak – Soak feet in warm water with rock salt for 10 minutes before bed. • Check Kidney & Heart Function (Swelling can be due to BP-related fluid retention). • Get Vitamin D & B12 tested (Deficiency worsens arthritis symptoms). With these remedies, your swelling and joint pain should reduce in 2-3 weeks! Let me know if you need a more detailed plan.

Thank you for the details Shumaila. 1. Can you tell me if you experience any morning stiffness or difficulty moving after waking up? 2. Also, how is your diet and water intake, and do you feel more fatigued or have trouble breathing when the swelling is worse? These could help assess your condition further and guide the best course of action.
