HELLO SHRAVANI,

You said your periods have been irregular, missed periods since 3 months. you are suffering from PCOS

In PCOS, -your ovaries develop many small cysts-fluid filled sacs -hormonal imbalance occurs-too much male hormone(androgens) and not enough of the hormones that regulate periods(like FSH and LH)

As a result -ovulation (release of eggs) doesn’t happen properly -periods become delayed, irregular or absent - you may notice weight gain, acne, facial hairs and mood swings

In Ayurveda, PCOD is due to -Kapha dosha increase-causing heaviness , slow metabolism, cyst formation -Vata dosha disturbance-blocking normal flow of hormones and menstruation -Agni(digestive fire) is weak, causing Ama(toxins) buildup in reproductive tissues(Artava dhatu)

TREATMENT GOAL -regulating the menstrual cycle -balancing hormones -improving digestion and metabolism - reducing cyst formation and ama - improving digestion and metabolism -reducing cyst formation and ama - improving ovulation and fertility -cleansing and toning reproductive system

Dear Shravani, Thank you for sharing your condition. You are 29 years old with a history of PCOS since age 20, having irregular periods (currently missed for 3 months). Now you are experiencing excessive weakness, palpitations, anxiety, dizziness, and high inflammation.

Blood reports show:

Iron = 30 (low storage, though Hb = 12)

Thyroid normal

Vitamins normal

Raised inflammation markers

This suggests Apana Vata vitiation (irregular cycles) + Kapha–Medo aggravation (PCOS cysts, hormonal imbalance) + Rakta dhatu depletion (low iron stores despite normal Hb), with underlying Pitta (inflammation) and Vata (anxiety, palpitations) imbalance.

🔍 Recommended Investigations

1. Pelvic ultrasound – ovarian size, follicular cysts, endometrium thickness. 2. Hormonal profile – LH, FSH, Estradiol, Progesterone, Testosterone, Prolactin. 3. CBC + Serum Ferritin – to monitor iron stores. 4. hs-CRP or ESR – to track inflammation. 5. Fasting glucose + HbA1c + Insulin resistance markers.

💊 Internal Medicines

Phase 1 – Agni Deepana & Kapha–Pitta Shamana (First 4 weeks)

1. Trikatu Churna – ½ tsp with warm water before meals, twice daily (boosts metabolism, reduces inflammation). 2. Nimbadi Kwatha – 15 ml with 30 ml of warm water, twice daily before meals (blood purification, reduces inflammation & skin issues if any).

Phase 2 – PCOS & Cycle Regulation (Next 2 months)

1. Ashokarishta – 20 ml with equal water after meals, twice daily (regulates menstrual cycle, reduces excessive bleeding if present later). 2. Kanchanara Guggulu – 2 tabs twice daily after meals (shrinks cysts, balances Kapha–Medo). 3. Shatavari Kalpa – 1 tsp with warm water twice daily (female hormone balancer, nourishes reproductive system). 4. Chandraprabha Vati – 2 tabs twice daily after meals (balances hormones, reduces anxiety & palpitations).

For Low Iron Stores (without constipation):

Dhatri Loha – 1 tab twice daily after meals (iron + Vitamin C, improves ferritin).

🌿 External Support

1.Abhyanga (oil massage) with warm sesame oil or dhanwantaram oil, twice a week – reduces anxiety, palpitations, improves circulation. 2.Hot fomentation on lower abdomen during expected cycle dates – balances Apana Vata.

🥗 Diet & Lifestyle

Pathya (Recommended):

1. Warm, light, freshly cooked food. 2. Millets (ragi, bajra, foxtail) instead of wheat/rice. 3. Moong dal, green gram sprouts, drumstick leaves. 4. Pomegranate, apple, papaya – supports cycle and blood. 5. Turmeric + black pepper in warm water daily (anti-inflammatory). 6. Small amount of cow’s ghee (½ tsp) in meals.

Apathya (Avoid):

1. Refined carbs, fried food, bakery, sugary foods. 2. Dairy in excess (curd, paneer, cheese at night). 3. Cold drinks, packaged juices, carbonated drinks. 4. Late-night sleep, irregular eating patterns.

🧘‍♀️ Yoga & Lifestyle

1. Asanas: Baddha Konasana, Malasana, Setubandhasana, Bhujangasana (stimulates ovaries, balances hormones). 2. Pranayama: Anulom Vilom & Bhramari (10 min daily, reduces anxiety & palpitations). 3. Weight management: Walk/yoga for 30–40 min daily. 4. Sleep before 11 pm, wake before sunrise. 5. Stress reduction with journaling, meditation, or chanting.

🌸 With Kind Regards

This plan will gradually:

1.Regulate menstrual cycles 2.Reduce PCOS cysts and inflammation 3.Restore iron stores 4.Calm anxiety and palpitations

Gentle but consistent Ayurvedic therapy, combined with mindful diet and lifestyle, will bring balance in Vata–Kapha and strengthen your reproductive health.

According to Ayurveda, Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD) is viewed as a condition caused by an imbalance in the body’s three doshas: Vata, Pitta, and Kapha. The symptoms you listed—hair loss, weight loss, and hormonal imbalance—are considered manifestations of this underlying dosha disruption. Specifically, PCOD is often linked to an excess of Kapha and Vata doshas, which can lead to a build-up of toxins (Ama) and affect the reproductive and metabolic systems.

Ayurvedic Perspective on Symptoms Hormone Imbalance & PCOD

Ayurveda sees hormonal imbalance not as the root cause, but as a symptom of a deeper issue. The primary goal is to correct the dosha imbalance and improve the body’s internal environment. The accumulation of toxins and improper functioning of the digestive fire (Agni) are believed to be the main culprits.

Ayurvedic Treatment Approach Ayurvedic treatment for PCOD is holistic and aims to address the root cause, not just the symptoms. It typically involves a combination of dietary changes, lifestyle modifications, herbal remedies, and specialized cleansing therapies.

Dietary Recommendations 🍎

A Kapha-pacifying diet is generally recommended, focusing on foods that are warm, light, and easy to digest.

Consume: Fresh vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and lean proteins. Incorporate spices like turmeric, cinnamon, cumin, and ginger, which are believed to improve metabolism and hormonal balance.

Avoid: Processed foods, sugary snacks, refined carbohydrates, and cold or heavy foods.

Routine and stress management are key in Ayurveda.

Exercise: Regular, moderate physical activity like yoga, walking, and swimming can help manage weight, improve insulin sensitivity, and regulate hormones.

Stress Management: Practices like Pranayama (breathing exercises) and meditation are recommended to lower stress-related hormones like cortisol.

Sleep: Maintaining a consistent sleep schedule and getting adequate rest is crucial for hormonal balance.

In your case, it appears the symptoms—weakness, palpitations, anxiety—may link to both PCOS and low iron levels. Irregular periods and high inflammation often accompany PCOS. Ayurveda’s approach involves balancing the doshas, improving agni (digestive fire), and supporting the body’s natural rhythms.

First, let’s focus on diet. Consuming a Vata-Pitta balancing diet might be beneficial. Include whole grains such as quinoa and millet, green leafy vegetables like spinach, and fresh fruits (e.g., pomegranate, which can also help boost iron levels). Avoid processed foods, artificial sweeteners, and trans fats as they can increase inflammation. Consuming small, balanced meals regularly can stabilize blood sugar and ease anxiety.

For herbal support, Ashwagandha is known for its adaptogenic properties. It might help reduce anxiety and enhance vitality. Take one teaspoon of Ashwagandha powder with warm milk before bedtime. Additionally, Shatavari is a reproductive tonic, useful for balancing female hormones. Around 500mg of Shatavari powder twice daily with warm water could be beneficial.

While supplements are helpful, lifestyle changes play a crucial role too. Daily practices such as Abhyanga (self-massage) using warm sesame oil can calm the nervous system. Engage in calming activities like yoga or pranayama (specifically alternate nostril breathing) to help manage anxiety and regulate menstrual cycles.

Regarding the inflammation, Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory herb that can be included in cooking or taken as a small pinch in warm water.

It’s important to track your symptoms and keep in touch with a healthcare provider. Regular follow-ups with both Ayurvedic and western practitioners can guide any adjustments needed in your treatment. If your symptoms persist or worsen, professional medical intervention may be necessary.

Your symptoms of excessive weakness, palpitations, and anxiety linked with PCOS suggest a potential imbalance of doshas, primarily Kapha and Vata, and possibly Pitta too, considering the inflammation. This situation requires a comprehensive approach, both in diet and lifestyle adjustments alongside herbal support, grounded in the Siddha-Ayurveda principles.

First, focusing on balancing your Vata and Kapha is essential. Start optimizing your diet by incorporating warming, easily digestible foods. Consider eating freshly cooked meals with spices like ginger, turmeric, and black pepper which can help balance Kapha and improve Agni. Try to minimize raw, cold foods, and avoid processed sugars and excessive caffeine.

For herbal support, Ashwagandha is known for reducing anxiety and supporting the body’s stress response. It can be taken as a churna (powder) mixed with warm milk before bed. Shatavari is another herb that may regulate hormonal balance and support female health, taken as a decoction or tablet. Consult an experienced practitioner before starting any new herbal regimen.

For inflammation, incorporating turmeric as a spice daily with black pepper in meals can be beneficial due to its anti-inflammatory properties. A teaspoon mixed in lukewarm water can be consumed with breakfast.

Gentle exercises like walking or yoga can help alleviate anxiety and improve circulation, addressing weakness. Practice deep breathing exercises like Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing) to calm the mind and reduce palpitations.

Given your missed periods and symptoms persist, it may be necessary to consult an Ayurvedic practitioner and an allopathic physician to rule out other conditions needing advanced care. Regular assessments will ensure that any underlying condition is addressed promptly.
