–Yes, the nervous system can heal, even after 10+ years of psychotropic drug use. This is due to neuroplasticity—your brain’s ability to rewire, repair, and form new connections. —Medicines: 1)Brahmi Ghritam 5–10 ml morning empty stomach 2)Kalyanakam Kashayam 15 ml + water, twice daily before food 3)Ashwagandha Lehyam 1 tsp twice daily after food 4)Manasamitra Vatakam 1 tab at bedtime — External: Ksheerabala Tailam head massage daily — Lifestyle: Sleep early, warm diet, ghee Light exercise + pranayama – Duration: 3–6 months minimum

I am concerned about neuron or brain cells/ cells in the nervous system loss or apoptosis…there his high pitta-vata vitiation in the body and brain and the nervous system…can this cause any issue or body can recover? connections between the cells can get impaired, synaptic pruning and loss of connections but due to pitta- vata vitiation, are any cells lost? brain power, mind power, memory and intelligence reduced or what? can someone guide on this? release of inflammatory cytokines…can body heal?

–Yes, under stress, drugs, or inflammation: Some neurons can be damaged or lost Processes like apoptosis and inflammation may occur But here’s the key point: – The brain is not a fixed structure. Through neuroplasticity, it can: Rewire connections Strengthen remaining neurons Form new pathways –most symptoms are due to temporary dysfunction of connections, not permanent loss. –With proper treatment, lifestyle correction, and time, significant recovery is possible, so continue with the treatment as prescribed.

What is the way to know if I have lost any brain cells/ neurons? How to know that? But are you sure that I may have lost any neurons or brain cells? Are you sure of it?

–No, I cannot say that for sure. And in most cases like yours: Significant neuron loss is unlikely Symptoms are usually due to functional slowing, not cell death. There is no routine test that can precisely show small neuron loss in a living person. Brain scans like MRI scan can only detect major damage, not subtle changes.

Mild–moderate neuron dysfunction is reversible due to neuroplasticity Synaptic loss and memory issues can improve with treatment Inflammation (cytokines) plays a key role in brain fog & cognitive decline Complete neuron loss (apoptosis) is not fully reversible, but function can improve Ayurvedic Insight Condition = Vata + Pitta imbalance in Majja dhatu & Manovaha srotas Leads to: instability (Vata) + inflammation (Pitta) Management Reduce inflammation Stabilize Promote neuro-regeneration (Medhya Rasayana) bramhi it’s good Brain can heal and adapt significantly if managed early with proper treatment, diet, and lifestyle.

Thank you for your answer. But did apoptosis even occur or no? What is the way to know this? Can you guide? But does cell loss occur in such cases or no? Only answer if you are sure of it…

Can you please tell me whether in such cases, does apoptosis happens or no? Please guide correctly.

Hello, The following when taken regularly for long duration you will start slowly feeling better. 1. Brahmi Ghritham One teaspoon in the morning/one teaspoon at bed time followed by a cup of warm water. For 3 months Then reduce to 1/2 teaspoon followed by a cup of boiled warm water at bed time for next 6 months. 2. Hello, If you are still on psychotropic medications, without your treating doctor’s advice do not stop then. Each medicine have its own effects and side effects. The Ayurveda medicines prescribed will help you to slow down/prevent/arrest the side effects of the allopathy medications without coming in the way of their benefits. The also help to strengthen the nervous system in general. Life style wise please start practicing pranayama which again will help a lot to take care of the side effects. Take care, Kind regards.

On taking rtms 30 session with no real need, I developed sleeplessness that got okay after taking some medicines. Then I took a lot of meds for 3 years and on stopping, I lost sleep and had other side effects. Got cervical and other issues as well. Headaches etc and now sleep and memory issues. Good diet helps make neurotransmitters in the brain. Also, taking ayurvedic meds and doing abhyanga etc. Please tell me, when there is a vata pitta vitiation in the majja dhatu, do you think there will be any loss of cells/neurons there? Young person…32 years old…please guide. Sleep is a big issue.

I am really sorry to hear this. To understand whether the majja dhatu vitiation is there a one on one- in person -detailed consultation is very much necessary. I would like to suggest you to meet an ayurveda doctor around your place. Along with internal ayurveda medicines a course of panchakaram(like virechana/vasthi, shirolepam, shiropichu, shirodhara, sarvanagadhara) will help you a lot. Please do not worry. Take care.

1) Smritisagar rasa- 1tab twice daily with honey or ghee 2) medhya vati-1 tab twice daily with water Healing The Nervous System after a decade of drug use is slow process minimum course of 3 month is usually required

Long term use of psychotropic drugs over many years can affect the nervous system in several ways including neurotransmitter balance receptor sensitivity neural plasticity and sometimes subtle structural changes in the brain The nervous system has an innate ability to heal and adapt but recovery depends on factors like the type of drugs used the duration of use age overall health diet lifestyle and stress levels Recovery is gradual and complete restoration can take months to years but significant improvement is possible Healing mainly involves restoring neurotransmitter balance repairing neurons improving circulation and oxygenation to the brain and supporting myelin and synaptic function Even after long term drug use the nervous system can regain much of its function if supported correctly Manasamitra Vatakam one tablet twice daily after food Brahmi Ghrita one teaspoon twice daily with warm milk Saraswathi Aristham fifteen ml with equal water twice daily after food all help in supporting neural repair improving memory concentration reducing stress and promoting overall nervous system health Regular monitoring with a clinician experienced in neurology or integrative medicine helps track improvement and allows adjustment of medicines diet and lifestyle measures to ensure optimal neural recovery Gentle lifestyle changes balanced nutrition adequate sleep stress management and regular mild exercise all support recovery and enhance the effects of these Ayurvedic medicines Consistency patience and steady care over months and years are important because the nervous system heals gradually and responds well to ongoing support It is also important to practice mental exercises meditation and pranayama to improve focus and reduce anxiety Gentle stimulation of the brain through reading puzzles and light learning activities helps neuroplasticity and strengthens cognitive function Avoiding alcohol recreational drugs excessive caffeine and highly processed foods prevents further stress on the nervous system Regular follow up and adjustment of care ensures that progress is maintained and long term recovery is supported

You’ve raised a very important question. Long-term psychotropic drug use can affect the nervous system, but the good news is that the nervous system does have the capacity to heal—though the extent and speed depend on factors like duration of use, type of drugs, age, lifestyle changes, and overall health. 1.Ashwagandhadi lehyam 1 tsp twice daily with warm milk after meals 2.Brahmi pearl capsules 1 cap twice daily with water after meals 3.Saraswatarishta 20 ml with 20 ml water twice daily after meals Lifestyle & Healing Steps— - Diet: Warm, nourishing meals; ghee, soaked almonds, walnuts, dates, raisins; avoid processed foods, excess caffeine, alcohol. - Yoga & Pranayama: Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), Bhramari (humming breath), gentle asanas like Vajrasana, Shavasana. - Daily routine: Early sleep, morning sunlight exposure, regular meditation. - Detox: Panchakarma therapies (like Basti and Shirodhara) are highly effective for nervous system rejuvenation, but only under supervision. - Mental stimulation: Reading, puzzles, learning new skills—helps neuroplasticity.

Long-term use of psychotropic drugs can affect the nervous system, but with proper care gradual recovery is possible full restoration depends upon the type of drug duration of use and ever overall health and it may take several months to few years You can start with Manasamitra vatikam 1-0-1 Brahmi gritha 1 tsp-0-0 Ashwagandha aristha 4-0-4 tsp with equal water Follow regular sleep, moderate exercise, stress management, and pranayama meditation regularly for cognitive support Avoid alcohol, nicotine and recreational drugs Follow regularly with neurologist and Ayurvedic practitioner

Has any loss of brain cells occurred? young person…lot of psych treatment and also loss of sleep post stopping, resulting in physical symptoms plus now memory issues too. young person

Psych treatment in allopathic medicine is long treatment, and after stopping these medicines leave behind a trail of such symptoms. Ayurvedic treatment will help improve brain cells nerves strength

Namaste, The nervous system has a good ability to heal and adapt, even after long-term drug or psychotropic use. Recovery is usually gradual, and improvement can continue over months to years depending on the body, lifestyle, and overall health. Simple understanding: In many cases, healing is not immediate, but the brain can recover function step by step. Symptoms like cognitive issues, low focus, or mental fatigue can improve with proper care. Time required varies, but noticeable changes may take few months, while deeper recovery can take longer. Simple measures that may help: Maintain regular sleep (very important for brain recovery). Eat a nutritious diet with good fats (nuts, seeds), fruits, and vegetables. Do regular physical activity like walking or light exercise. Practice meditation, pranayama, or mindfulness, which help calm and rebuild nervous balance. Avoid alcohol, drugs, and excessive stimulants completely. Keep a structured routine, as consistency supports brain healing. Ayurveda focuses on nervous system nourishment (medhya and rasayana support). Ayurvedic medicines sometimes used to support recovery include: Brahmi – traditionally used to support memory, focus, and brain function. Ashwagandha – commonly used to support stress reduction and nervous system strength. Recovery is possible, but it requires patience, consistency, and holistic care. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.

Namaste, Your concern is understandable, but let me reassure you in a clear and calm way. Simple understanding: The brain and nervous system are very adaptable. Even if there is stress, inflammation, or imbalance (like vata–pitta aggravation), it does not usually mean permanent loss of brain cells in most cases. There can be temporary changes like reduced focus, memory issues, or mental fatigue due to stress, inflammation, or lifestyle factors. The brain has the ability for neuroplasticity, meaning it can repair connections and improve function over time. About healing: Yes, the body and brain can recover and improve, especially when the cause (stress, inflammation, poor lifestyle) is addressed. Inflammation and stress can affect brain function, but with proper care, this is often reversible to a good extent. Simple measures that may help: Maintain good sleep, as it is most important for brain repair. Follow a balanced, nourishing diet with good fats (nuts, seeds), fruits, and vegetables. Practice meditation, pranayama, or relaxation techniques daily. Avoid overthinking, excessive screen time, and mental strain. Do regular physical activity, which improves brain health. Keep a stable routine, as it supports nervous system balance. Ayurvedic medicines (Kerala Ayurveda) that may support nervous system health include: Kerala Ayurveda Brahmi Capsule – traditionally used to support memory, focus, and brain function. Kerala Ayurveda Ashwagandharishtam – sometimes used to reduce stress and support nervous system strength. Recovery is possible, but it takes time, consistency, and patience. Consult me for more advice and suggestions on the above medicines.
