symptoms like slow walking, stiffness, speech difficulty, and mucus accumulation in MND are mainly related to aggravated Vata dosha affecting the nerves and muscles, along with Kapha obstruction in the throat channels. Although MND is a progressive neurological condition, Ayurveda aims to improve mobility, speech clarity, muscle nourishment, stiffness, and quality of life through long-term supportive care. Recommended Ayurvedic approach: Ashwagandha – helps strengthen nerves, muscles, and reduces fatigue/stiffness. Bala + Atmagupta (Kapikacchu) – support neuromuscular strength and coordination. Brahmi / Medhya Rasayana – useful for speech support, nervous system calming, and stress-related worsening. Yogaraj Guggulu or Mahayograj Guggulu – may help reduce stiffness and improve movement. Guduchi – supports immunity and reduces degeneration. For throat mucus and difficulty clearing phlegm: mild use of Sitopaladi churna with honey or warm herbal water may help. External therapies are very beneficial in such cases: Abhyanga (daily medicated oil massage with Mahanarayana taila or Ksheerbala taila) Swedana (mild fomentation) for stiffness Nasya therapy under supervision may support speech and throat function In chronic Vata disorders, Basti therapy (medicated enema) is considered one of the most important Ayurvedic treatments. Diet & lifestyle: Prefer warm, soft, nourishing foods with ghee. Avoid cold, dry, packaged, and excessively spicy foods. Gentle physiotherapy, breathing exercises, and stress reduction are important because stress can aggravate Vata symptoms.
