Dealing with chronic gastritis, especially alongside anxiety, depression, and psoriasis, can be quite a challenge. Ayurveda suggests assessing your condition from the perspective of dosha imbalances, primarily focusing on Pitta and Vata. The fiery nature of Pitta can worsen the burning sensation in the stomach and GERD, while Vata imbalances might contribute to the anxiety and indigestion. To help manage Gastritis, a shift in diet is crucial. Favor cooling and soothing foods such as cucumber, coconut water, and buttermilk, which can calm the Pitta. Avoid spicy, oily, and fried foods as they may exacerbate symptoms. Incorporating these dietary changes might be gradual but can offer relief over time. Ayurveda also emphasizes the importance of maintaining strong and balanced agni (digestive fire). Consider taking Triphala powder mixed with warm water at night, which can assist in digestion and detoxification. While Triphala aids in digestion, it’s gentle enough for everyday use. For anxiety and depression, practices like daily Abhyanga (self-oil massage) with sesame oil can have a grounding effect, reducing Vata and instilling calm. Incorporating meditation and pranayama, especially Nadi Shodhana (alternate nostril breathing), can also help manage mental health concerns, providing moments of peace and grounding throughout the day. Psoriasis, as with other symptoms, can be linked to inflammation. Turmeric milk, taken in moderation, might aid in reducing inflammation due to its anti-inflammatory properties. Still, effectiveness can depend on individual constitution. While Ayurveda encourages a holistic approach, be mindful that you’re dealing with complex conditions. Especially with long-term PPI and anxiety medication use, it's important to gradually introduce these changes alongside medical supervision. Managing stress and ensuring regular sleep is also essential — your lifestyle plays a pivotal role in managing these conditions. Consult an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner who can tailor these suggestions more granularly to suite your specific needs.
