For large kidney stones, especially those measuring 9mm, it is essential to approach the situation with caution, particularly given the symptoms you are experiencing. While Ayurveda can certainly support your overall well-being, some of the symptoms you’re describing like hydronephrosis, pulmonary edema, and irregular heartbeat indicate urgent medical attention is needed.

Firstly, it is important to get an evaluation by a qualified medical professional to assess the need for any immediate surgical interventions or treatments like lithotripsy, which may be required for such large stones. Treatments like ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy) could be necessary for stones of this size.

Assuming your acute condition is under medical management, there are ways Ayurveda can support your recovery:

Begin by focusing on your diet to balance any dosha imbalances contributing to kidney stone formation. Ensure you stay hydrated by drinking warm water throughout the day, which can help to flush toxins and support urinary tract health. Avoid foods high in oxalates like spinach and nuts, which might exacerbate stone formation.

Nutritionally, opt for foods that improve kidney function and soothe the body such as barley water and tender coconut water. Locate your meals around balancing Kapha and Pitta since these can aggravate stone issues, so reduce excessive salt, and spices.

For the itching and brownish urine, consider incorporating herbs like Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) which traditionally supports urinary systems, although it should be done under guidance due to your complex symptoms. Herbal formulations like Chandanasava may help reduce burning sensations and improve urine output.

Incorporate mild, non-exertive yoga practices daily focused on pranayama to calm the breath, which may help with shortness of breath. Use caution with physical activity given the edema and fatigue you’re experiencing.

Given the severity of your symptoms, it is extremely important to maintain open dialogue with your healthcare provider and obtain regular follow-ups to monitor your stone size and overall health condition. Pursuing Ayurveda as a complementary approach alongside conventional treatments might be the best path forward, depending on professional medical advice.
