Effectiveness of CCF tea for abdominal discomfort and gas - #20236

YH

Dear Doctors, Please can you advise the suggested concentration and dosage amount and frequency for CCF tea to relieve pain and discomfort from gas. Also, if a patient has IBS and is on fluid restrictions due to SAIDH is it safe and effective to concentrate the dose to decrease the amount of fluid required. Thank you.

The restriction is 27-33 ounces per 24 hours

As already fluid restriction is der, as you need to cover all liquids in 24 hrs,you can gv approx 50 mL twice daily All 3-1/2 tsp boil in half cup water for about 10 minutes so that it absorbs even more give 50 mL twice daily so that it will not overload

CCF tea, or a blend of cumin, coriander, and fennel seeds, is a time-honored Ayurvedic remedy for digestive issues, including gas and abdominal discomfort. It works by balancing the Vata dosha and igniting Agni, or the digestive fire, which can be especially soothing for discomfort due to bloating or gas.

To make CCF tea, you would typically use 1 teaspoon of each seed: cumin, coriander, and fennel. Boil these in about 3-4 cups of water for approximately 10-15 minutes, then strain the mixture. If you are on a fluid restriction due to SIADH, it’s indeed possible to concentrate the dosage by using less water, however, this should be done cautiously and under medical supervision to ensure it’s safe for your specific situation.

Since you mention IBS and fluid restriction, it’s wise to start with a more concentrated brew. Try using about 1 to 1.5 teaspoons of each seed with just 1 or 1.5 cups of water, boiling for the same duration. This concentrated form allows you to adhere to your fluid limits while still gaining the benefits from the herbs. Sip this tea warm, ideally 20-30 minutes after meals, to aid digestion and alleviate gas-related discomfort.

Keep in mind, while CCF tea can be part of a supportive approach to managing digestive discomfort, it shouldn’t replace conventional treatments, especially if you have medical conditions like IBS or SIADH. Always check with your healthcare provider, particularly if you are under specific fluid restrictions. Ayurvedic remedies are a great complement to modern medicine, but must be tailored individually.

Lastly, pay attention to your body’s responses – even with natural remedies, balance is key. Adjust the quantity or frequency if you notice any increased discomfort or changes in your symptoms. It’s important to listen to your body’s feedback and proceed with a mindful approach to any holistic treatment.
