For chronic ulcerative colitis, especially with symptoms like left-sided burning, diarrhea, and abdominal cramps, Ayurveda offers a holistic approach focused on balancing the body’s energies, or doshas, and dealing directly with the root of the problem. Generally, ulcerative colitis is seen as an imbalance primarily in Pitta dosha, exacerbated by faulty digestion or “Agni”. Here are some recommendations to consider:

Firstly, stick to a cooling and soothing diet. Include foods that are easy to digest like well-cooked rice, mung dal (lentils), and steamed vegetables such as squash or gourds. Avoid spicy, oily, and processed foods that can irritate Pitta. Drink coconut water or aloe vera juice, they can cool down the inflammation in your colon.

Add some spices such as cumin, coriander, and fennel in your meals – they support digestion without overheating your system. Triphala churna can be taken at bedtime, half a teaspoon with warm water, as it aids in regulating bowel movements without aggravating Pitta.

Daily practice of deep breathing, or pranayama, like Nadi Shodhana, paired with meditation will help reduce stress, which can otherwise worsen symptoms. Gentle yoga asanas like vajrasana, or the child’s pose, support digestive health. Do not push yourself too much; ensure the practice is gentle.

Turmeric milk, taken at night before sleep, can help with inflammation but use caution as it might not suit everyone. Start with a small amount to monitor how your body reacts.

For your hair fall, massaging the scalp with bhringraj oil might help – it’s often used in Ayurveda for hair health.

Consultation with an Ayurvedic doctor in person would provide a more customized treatment plan, as she would assess your prakriti (body constitution) and specific imbalances in doshas and dhatus.

These suggestions are complementary. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking medical attention for further evaluation is crucial to avoid complications. Always reach out to a healthcare professional before making substantial changes, especially with your condition.
