Constipation and fullness in the stomach often relate to a Vata imbalance, which can affect the digestive system, leading to the symptoms you’re experiencing. Even with your current efforts, like drinking water, eating fruits, and veggies, and taking triphala, it seems the digestive fire, or agni, might still need attention.
Since you’ve started triphala but not seen the desired results, there are a few other things you could try. Firstly, incorporating some warm, hydrating drinks may be beneficial. Drinking warm water with a pinch of ginger or lemon throughout the day can stimulate digestion. It does help in regulating your agni.
Your diet already includes fruits and vegetables, which is great. However, shifting to cooked, warm meals rather than raw might provide better support for your digestion, as they are easier on your stomach. Consider adding a bit of ghee (clarified butter) to these meals, as it can offer lubrication needed for the smooth passage of stool.
You could also try introducing certain specific herbs known for alleviating constipation. For instance, psyllium husk taken with warm milk at bedtime can sometimes aid in easing the bowel movement. Alternatively, you might try a small amount of castor oil, around a teaspoon before bed, ensuring it’s safe for you to use at your current state of health.
Your burping suggests trapped gas which may be addressed by avoiding foods that tend to increase flatulence, such as beans and cruciferous vegetables, at least until your digestion stabilizes. Also, practicing wind-relieving exercises, gentle yoga poses that target the abdomen, may help in releasing some of this trapped gas.
If symptoms persist despite these adjustments, it’s essential to consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying conditions or complications. Prolonged constipation isn’t something to ignore, as it can sometimes point towards more serious issues.
