My tongue is whitish is colour - #21624

Prateek Soni

After several efforts and high level of maintaining dental hygiene, my tongue remains whitish, may be it is because of my poor liver health. I have a history of jaundice and premature greying of hairs. Please help me to solve this issue

A whitish tongue, even with good dental hygiene, might point towards ama—undigested toxins according to Ayurveda—hanging around. It sounds like there’s maybe an imbalance, potentially linked to past liver issues and that history of jaundice. Often these things relate back to an imbalanced pitta dosha. It’s like the liver and the digestive system trying to figure things out but not getting there completely.

First off, consider your digestion. Making sure it’s strong here is key. Start your day with a glass of warm water with a teaspoon of lemon juice to help kickstart your digestive fire or agni. It’s a simple little tweak that can flush away the toxins. Avoid heavy, greasy, and fried foods that dampen agni, you know.

Meanwhile, curcumin found in turmeric could be really beneficial here. A turmeric milk, a pinch in warm milk before bed, is not only soothing—it works from the inside out. Plus, ginger tea—sip it through the day, it’s like a gentle nudge to your digestion, helping with those whitish tongue situations.

Triphala also stands out as another gem here. It’s that go-to Ayurvedic herbal, balancing and cleansing. Consider 1/2 tsp with warm water before going to bed—just don’t go overboard with it.

Oh, and about stress, it plays a sneaky role sometimes. Incorporating some daily routine with yoga or simple pranayama helps keep things calm, bringing in the prana where it needs to go—like giving your body a reset button.

Remember, though, I say all this but it’s super important to check in with a healthcare provider too. If things are persistent or get worse, that could indicate something that needs real eyes on it. Balancing in Ayurveda is like an ongoing convo with your body, tweaks here and there, so just keep listening to what it might be saying, and be gentle with yourself through the process.

It is because of Aam dosh, a condition in Ayurveda where improperly digested food (called Aam) accumulates in the body, leading to toxins that disrupt normal bodily functions and cause disease.
