Seeking Advice on Prolonged Skin Sensitivity and Effectiveness of Dadurin Lotion - #22685
I am really struggling with this skin issue that won’t go away. Last month, I noticed some itchy patches on my arms and legs, and after trying a bunch of creams without any luck, my doctor prescribed dadurin lotion. At first, it seemed to help, but then the itching just came back, and now it feels like my skin is even more sensitive?! I’m worried this could be something serious. Can anyone share their experiences with dadurin lotion? Is it supposed to work for things like this? I mean, how long does it usually take to see results? I’d love any tips or advice!!

Doctors’ responses
Dadurin lotion often used for treating inflammatory skin conditions can sometimes offer temporary relief, as it possibly did initially for you. However, persistent skin sensitivity or recurring symptoms can suggest an underlying imbalance requiring deeper attention. From an Ayurvedic perspective, skin conditions like recurent itching or sensitive skin are often linked to an imbalance in the doshas, especially Pitta and Vata. The skin’s sensitivity might be due to heat (Pitta imbalance) or dryness and roughness (Vata imbalance).
Though modern lotions like dadurin are helpful, they might not address these internal imbalances entirely. It’s essential to look at other aspects like your diet, lifestyle, and overall health to find a more lasting solution. You may want to focus on a Pitta and Vata soothing approach.
Diet: Start incorporating cooling, hydrating foods into your meals. Cucumber, aloe vera juice, and coconut are beneficial. Avoid spicy, oily, and salty foods which can aggravate Pitta further. Keep meals simple but nourishing to avoid overburdening digestion — something like a mung dal khichdi with a bit of ghee might be perfect.
Lifestyle: Regular practices, like gentle yoga and meditation, can help calm both doshas. Ensure you’re getting adequate rest, as lack of sleep can exacerbate skin sensitivity.
Topical care: Use natural oils such as coconut or almond oils on your skin. They help soothe irritation and provide moisture without added chemicals that might irritate sensitivities.
However if you suspect it’s more than a seasonal or mild issue, it’s important to talk with a healthcare professional familiar with chronic or more serious skin conditions. Do not ignore persistent or worsening symptoms; it might require more medical evaluation to rule out underlying conditions needing different treatment, such as allergies or eczema. Remember, it can take a few weeks to notice improvement with Ayurvedic approaches, so patience and consistent practice is key.
