How to stop excessive hair growth on face and body? - #22985

Avisha

I am suffering from severe PCOS. It had gotten better about a year ago, but when I noticed some changes in my body again, I got tested. The reports showed that I have cysts in both ovaries (I think it's called cystic PCOS)...I am on good diet. I’m experiencing excessive facial and body hair growth—it might be extreme hirsutism. I also have acne and severe hair fall. Please help me with a solution that can cure PCOS completely and stop it from coming back again...hope for ur reply

Addressing excessive hair growth and other symptoms of PCOS with Ayurveda involves a comprehensive approach that targets the root causes related to your unique body constitution and health imbalances. While reversing PCOS completely can be challenging, managing it effectively is achievable. In PCOS, the imbalance of Kapha and Vata, alongside impaired digestion (agni), contributes to the formation of cysts and symptoms like hirsutism and acne. Here, a tailored approach can bring harmony. For dietary changes, favor a Kapha-pacifying diet which excludes refined sugars, fried foods, and dairy. Incorporate more whole grains, vegetables, beans, and protein-rich lentils. Spices like turmeric, cumin, and fenugreek can help improve digestion and metabolism. Consume warm foods; avoid cold, ice-cold, or processed foods to keep agni strong. Herbal supplements may support, but consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized advice. Common herbs include Ashwagandha, Shatavari, and Jatamansi, known for balancing hormones and strengthening the reproductive system. Practicing Dinacharya—daily routine — with regular physical activity (preferably 30 minutes of aerobic exercise like brisk walking or yoga) helps maintain weight and reduce insulin resistance. Yoga poses like Baddha Konasana and Bhujangasana can boost ovarian function and reduce stress. Stress management is key. Techniques such as meditation, Pranayama—deep breathing exercises—are beneficial in calming Vata and stabilizing emotions. For direct treatment of excess hair, natural pastes made from turmeric and besan (chickpea flour) might help. Apply a paste of these ingredients to affected areas and rinse after drying. Given the complexity of PCOS, consistency and patience in applying these practices are crucial. If symptoms persist with Ayurvedic management, consider consulting a healthcare professional for further hormonal evaluation. Remember, an integrative approach combining Ayurveda with allopathic consultation often yields the best outcomes.
