How to solve excessive gas, bloating and pain in the right of colon? - #23129

Samar

For the past 6 months, I have been experiencing a pain in the colon near the navel. Upon flatulence this decreases but I experience a bubbly or itchy sensation in the colon. I have been a heavy smoker for the past 10 years. In a recent full body test all the results are within range hb1ac, TSh, kidney , urine culture and Liver test. Only vitmain d and b12 is lesser side of the range. Also a lot of the times I have experienced an angular or flat stools.

The symptoms you're describing suggest an imbalance in the digestive system, which is quite common in Ayurveda. When we're looking at gases, bloating, and unusual stool shapes, this often indicates a disturbance in Vata dosha, which governs movement and flow within the body. Smoking can aggravate Vata, leading to such digestive issues. First off, it's good to know your basic tests are within range, but the low levels of Vitamin D and B12 should be addressed. Consider supplements under medical guidance, and aim for foods rich in these vitamins such as fortified cereals, eggs, fish, and dairy products for B12, and safe exposure to sunlight, mushrooms, and fortified foods for Vitamin D. Now, onto the digestive concerns, Ayurveda places a lot of emphasis on Agni, or digestive fire. Balancing this can often reduce gas and improve stool consistency. Start by sipping on warm water or ginger tea throughout the day. The warmth aids digestion and helps pacify Vata. Avoid cold drinks, as they can suppress digestive fire. Consider including Triphala in your routine. This classical Ayurvedic formula stimulates digestion and helps gently cleanse and regulate the bowels. Take it before bed, mixed with warm water or tea. Just ensure you're not allergic to any of the components. Diet-wise, aim for more warm, cooked, and easily digestible foods. Khichdi, a traditional Indian rice and lentil dish, can be particularly soothing. It's light, nourishing, and balances all three doshas. Avoid foods that are too spicy, dry, or hard to digest, as well as processed foods. It's also a good time to gradually start quitting smoking. Nicotine and smoke can impact digestion, further aggravate Vata, and irritate the gut. Be mindful of meal timings – erratic eating can disturb digestion, so aim to eat at regular intervals. Light physical activity like walking can also help improve digestion but don't overexert yourself. If you find the symptoms persist or worsen, please consult a healthcare professional to explore these issues further, as they could require deeper investigation or alternative treatment.
