can we use multani mitti daily - #23289

Jack

I am trying to figure out if can we use multani mitti daily?! I've been using it for the last couple of weeks because my skin gets super oily and I've heard it's like magic for absorbing excess oil. But now I'm kinda worried, some friends say daily might be too much. I don't wanna mess up my skin, ya know? I’ve noticed a little dryness around my cheeks lately, which never really happens. Can we use multani mitti daily for oily skin, or is there a better routine you guys recommend? Just struggling a bit here, any help would be awesome!

Using multani mitti, also known as Fuller's Earth, every day might not be the best idea for everyone, especially if you've started to notice dryness around your cheeks. While multani mitti is famous for absorbing excess oil, its drying properties can sometimes be too harsh with daily usage, even for oily skin. In Ayurvedic terms, your concerns point to an imbalance that might be affecting the Pitta and possibly the Vata doshas in your skin. Multani mitti can pacify Pitta by soothing inflammation and cooling the skin, but it can also aggravate Vata, leading to dryness and rough texture, which is what you're experiencing around the cheeks. Instead of using it daily, you might want to integrate multani mitti into your skincare routine about 2-3 times a week. This would allow your skin to benefit from its oil-absorbing and cooling properties without overdrying. Pay attention also to how your skin feels— if it’s still dry even with less frequent use, you may need to adjust further or consider additional moisturizing. To make the most of multani mitti, try mixing it with rose water instead of plain water for a greater balance—it’s cool and can help in maintaining moisture. Alternatively, combining it with a little honey or aloe vera gel can aid in hydration. Afterwards, always apply a gentle, non-comedogenic moisturizer suited for oily skin to ensure balance. Also, focus on how your diet may influence your skin. Foods that increase internal heat or are too oily can aggravate oily skin. Aim for a Pitta-pacifying diet which includes cooling foods like cucumbers, melons, leafy greens, and avoid excess intake of hot, spicy, or greasy food. Remember, your skin might need time to adjust, and finding the right routine can involve a bit of trial and error. Better to take note of how your skin is responding and adapt your approach as necessary. Make sure to cleanse your face twice daily to remove dirt and oil buildup, but avoid overly harsh cleansers that could add to dryness. A proper balance is key to maintaining healthy skin over time.
