how to make your mehndi darker after washing - #23402

Liam

I am really trying to figure out how to make your mehndi darker after washing because I just had my hands done for a wedding. The design looked so good initially, but after I washed my hands, it seemed to fade too much for my liking. Like, I followed all the usual tips, I left it on for hours, but maybe I didn’t wrap it up tightly enough?! Anyway, when I washed it off, it looked kind of light and I wasn't prepared for that! I read somewhere that there are ways to enhance the color after washing, something about lemon juice or sugar syrup, but I really don’t know the right mix or if there’s any other tricks. Plus, I’m worried about skin reactions – will lemon juice be too harsh after? Should I be using something else instead? Any advice on how to make your mehndi darker after washing would be super helpful, especially because there’s only a few days left before the big day!

Achieving a darker mehndi even after washing off can be quite the challenge, especially when there’s an upcoming wedding. Here's what you could try to deepen the color of your mehndi. Firstly, it's good to know that mehndi color intensifies over time, usually peaking within 24-48 hours after application. So what you see initially after washing off might not be the final shade. That being said, there are ayurvedic tips to enhance the color further. A popular method, post-washing, involves using lemon juice mixed with sugar. You can make a syrup by mixing equal parts of fresh lemon juice and sugar, then lightly dab this mixture over the dried mehndi with a cotton ball. This mixture helps the mehndi stain lock into the skin more deeply. However, because your concern is skin sensitivity, make sure to do a patch test on a small area first. Lemon can irritate if used in excess or if the skin is sensitive or broken. Alternatively, you can rub some clove smoke onto your hands. Heat a few whole cloves on a pan till they start smoking and then, briefly expose your hands to the smoke. Be careful not to burn your skin in the process! Clove's natural warmth and oils can deepen the color intensity by causing a temporary increase in skin temperature, helping the henna to develop a more vivid hue. After these steps, avoid washing your hands frequently with soap and water. Stick to moisturizing oils, like coconut oil or sesame oil, which can help keep the mehndi’s vibrant color locked in without causing any fading. Make sure you're patient, color development takes time and varies from person to person, thanks to unique body chemistry. These tips should guide you well, but remember to balance color enhancement efforts with skin health and comfort!
