Urgency and greasy stools, especially after consuming oily food, suggest an imbalance in the digestive system that Ayurveda recognizes as an Agni (digestive fire) issue. When Agni is impaired, it can lead to poor digestion, improper absorption, and ultimately vata and pitta dosha imbalances. Given the weight loss and urgency, the first step is to gently stabilize Agni.

Begin by focusing on regular meal times. Eating at the same time every day helps to train your Agni. Start your day with warm water, preferably with a bit of ginger or lemon to stimulate digestion gently. Follow this with a light breakfast that is easy to digest, like porridge or a fruit that suits your prakriti. Eating three to four hours apart will avoid overtaxing your digestive system.

Consider adding more ghee in moderate quantities; it’s balancing for Vata and Pitta and can help lubricate the digestive tract. Cooking with spices such as turmeric, cumin, ginger, and fennel can enhance digestion. Between meals, sip warm water—it’s hydrating and aids digestion.

Avoiding cold, raw, and heavy foods is crucial. Emphasize warm, cooked meals. Also, limit or avoid processed, spicy or excessively oily foods, as they aggravate your symptoms.

To gain weight, incorporate easily digestible proteins like mung dal khichdi or lightly spiced curries of soft vegetables. Add small amounts of nuts and seeds if they’re well-tolerated.

Manage stress through mindfulness practices like yoga, pranayama, or meditation, as stress impacts digestion. A simple daily practice of Anulom Vilom pranayama can calm Vata and Pitta imbalances.

Finally, consult with a healthcare professional to rule out any underlying conditions like malabsorption or gallbladder issues, as these may require direct medical intervention. Follow these steps, and observe your body’s response—adjust as needed to maintain balance.
