what is best for hair growth - #23766

Emma

I am seriously at my wits end here! My hair used to be thick and healthy, but now it feels thin and brittle… I’ve tried all sorts of shampoos and conditioners, but nothing seems to work. Even went to a dermatologist, and they suggested some expensive treatments but honestly, I can’t afford that right now! 😩 A friend mentioned using natural remedies, but what is best for hair growth, really? Like, I mean, can Ayurveda help? I've heard about oils like castor oil, but I’m not sure how to use them properly or if they actually do anything. I tried coconut oil for a while, but just got tired of waiting for results. My scalp gets super oily, and I've also noticed some flaking, and my stress levels are through the roof with work and family stuff. Ugh, the pressure! Is there a simple Ayurvedic routine or herbs I could use? What is best for hair growth without breaking the bank or making my life more complicated? Any tips would be sooo helpful! Thanks, everyone!

When it comes to hair growth from an Ayurvedic perspective, achieving a balance between your doshas and nourishing your hair through proper care is key. It does sound like you’re dealing with stress and perhaps an imbalance that might be affecting your hair health. Let’s discuss some practical and affordable Ayurvedic tips:

1. Oil Massage (Abhyanga): Regular scalp massages can help improve circulation and nourish the hair. Once or twice a week, gently massage your scalp using oils such as Brahmi oil, Bhringraj oil, or a mix of castor and coconut oils. Heat the oil slightly to lukewarm, apply it evenly, and massage for about 10-15 minutes to increase blood flow and strengthen the roots.

2. Herbal Applications: Herbs like Amla (Indian gooseberry), Bhringraj, and Neem are excellent for hair care. You can make a simple hair mask by mixing amla powder with water or aloe vera gel to form a paste. Apply it an hour before washing your hair. Bhringraj powder can also be added to your oil or used in hair packs.

3. Dietary Adjustments: Your diet has a direct impact on hair health. Favor a diet rich in fresh greens, proteins, and vitamen E. Include nuts, seeds, leafy vegetables and seasonal fruits. Hydrate well and consider including sesame seeds and flaxseeds for their omega-3 fatty acids.

4. Stress Management: Given your stressful environment, focusing on stress reduction is vital. Practices such as yoga, pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation can help you relax and maintain a better hormonal balance, contributing to improved hair health.

5. Routine Adjustments: It may help to wash your hair less frequently if your scalp is oily, reducing stripping natural oils. Use a mild herbal shampoo with ingredients such as shikakai or reetha, which cleanse gently without affecting the scalp balance.

While these steps aims to promote health and hair growth, it’s always good idea to monitor how your hair and scalp respond. If the flakiness persists or increases, consider consulting with a professional for further assessment to rule out any underlying condition. Tailor these suggestions according to what feels best for your needs, and ensure they fit within your lifestyle, keeping consistency as key.
