I am really struggling with my hair these days! I’ve noticed it thinning out and being super brittle. Like, I used to have such thick hair, but now it seriously feels like it's just giving up on me. I’ve heard that amla is great for hair growth, but I'm kinda confused about how to consume amla for hair growth. Should I take it in powder form, or is the juice better? And how often should I be doing this? I mean, do I need to mix it with anything special or just pop it in whatever I’m eating? Also, my mom keeps telling me to make amla hair masks, but I honestly don’t know how often I should be applying that either. I’ve tried a few different things, but nothing seems to work. I guess I’m just looking for a simple way to include amla in my daily routine. Any tips or personal experiences would really help! Thanks!

Amla, or Indian gooseberry, is indeed a powerhouse for hair health due to its high Vitamin C content and antioxidants. To incorporate amla into your routine, you have several options, tailored to fit different preferences and lifestyles.

For consumption, amla can be taken in powder form, juice, or even as a raw fruit. If you opt for amla powder, mix a teaspoon with warm water and drink it first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. This way, you’re setting the tone for your digestion (or agni) to be strong throughout the day, supporting overall hair health. If you prefer juice, take about 30 ml of fresh amla juice mixed with an equal amount of water, ideally in the morning as well. This helps to enhance absorption and maximizes the benefits for your hair.

You’re right—amla isn’t just for eating. When it comes to hair masks, using amla powder is quite effective. Mix 2 tablespoons of amla powder with enough water to form a paste, then apply it to your scalp and hair. Leave it on for 30 to 60 minutes before rinsing it out with water. This can be done twice a week to strengthen hair follicles and add shine.

Combining amla with other ingredients can enhance its benefits. Mixing it with areetha (soapnut) and shikakai can further cleanse and nourish the scalp. You could also blend amla with some coconut oil or yogurt for added moisture. However, avoid overuse, as it might lead to over-drying.
