is multani mitti good for pimples - #23888

Violet

I am dealing with really bad pimples lately, and I've been searching for natural remedies. A friend mentioned that is multani mitti good for pimples, but I don't know much about it. I've read mixed reviews online, like some say it’s great for acne and helps absorb excess oil while others say it can be too drying if overused. Ugh! I’ve tried a few creams and even a laser treatment, but nothing seems to work long-term. Just yesterday, I mixed some multani mitti with rose water for a DIY mask, but I freaked out when my skin felt super tight afterward. Is that normal? I just wanna know, is multani mitti good for pimples in a way that won’t leave my skin dry and flaky? Like, is it something I should use regularly, or it might cause more breakouts? I could really use some advice!

Multani mitti, also known as Fuller’s Earth, can indeed be beneficial for managing pimples, especially if you are dealing with oily or combination skin. In Ayurveda, it is recognized for its cooling properties and ability to balance excess oil (sebum) on the skin, which is often a contributing factor in acne. It works by drawing out impurities and absorbing excess oil, which can help prevent clogged pores and reduce breakouts. However, there are a few things to keep in mind so you get the best outta this remedy without adverse effects.

Since your skin felt tight after using it with rose water, it’s possible that the paste dried out too much on your skin. Multani mitti can cause dryness if left on for too long or if used frequently. Ideally, you should apply the mask until it begins to dry but not entirely. A good practice is to leave it on for about 10-15 minutes and rinse off as soon as it start feels tight.

To prevent over-drying, you can modify the mask formulation. Instead of just rose water, try mixing multani mitti with plain yogurt or honey, both of which have moisturizing and soothing properties. Another option could be adding a few drops of coconut oil—it’s nourishing and won’t let your skin dry out. These additions should help maintain moisture levels while reaping the benefits of multani mitti.

In terms of frequency, using the mask once or twice a week should be sufficient. Too frequent use might upset the natural pH and lead to dryness or even irritation. Pay close attention to how your skin responds and adjust accordingly.

It’s also crucial to consider your overall lifestyle and diet. In Ayurveda, cleansing from within plays an important role. Avoiding spicy, oily, and processed foods, staying hydrated, and consuming a diet rich in fresh fruits and greens can support healthy skin.

If you continue to experience severe or persistent acne, it might be wise to consult with a healthcare provider or dermatologist to explore more options tailored to your specific skin needs.
