when to give bonnisan after food or before food - #24087

Abigail

I am dealing with my little one who’s been feeling kinda off lately, mostly just cranky and a little gassy. My pediatrician suggested Bonnisan, saying it could help with digestions issues, but I’m confused about when to give bonnisan after food or before food. I really wanna make sure I’m doing it right. I tried giving it before meals a couple of times, and honestly, I feel like it didn’t really help much. Should I give bonnisan after food instead? I’ve seen some forums recommending different timings, and it’s stressing me out! Like, what is the best practice? And if it's after food, how long after? I've also noticed some days are worse than others, and I can't really figure out if it's diet related or just a phase. I have heard good things about Bonnisan but still curious if anyone's had good results with specific timings for giving bonnisan. Help!

When it comes to administering Bonnisan, it can be somewhat confusing with all the differing recommendations out there, but generally speaking, it is often given after meals. This is primarily because its herbal formulation aids digestion, and can support your little one's digestive process after they've eaten. Now, if giving it before meals didn't seem to help much, it might be that the digestive aid is more beneficial once there's actually food in the system for it to work with. Typically, you might consider giving Bonnisan about 20-30 minutes after a meal. This allows some time for the food to start digesting and the digestive juices to mix, while giving Bonnisan a better chance to enhance the process effectively. It's not strictly necessary to follow the timing exact to the minute, as each child's digestion can vary, but aim in that ballpark for consistency. Also, ensuring your child is properly hydrated can help alleviate some of the gassy symptoms you're observing. As for the diet, if you find some days are worse than others, it could indeed be related. Keep a journal of what your child is eating—sometimes specific food triggers, like those high in refined sugars or certain dairy products, could be causing the extra gas or crankiness. This kind of tracking can help you identify patterns or common irritants in your child's diet. One more note, always ensure the dosage is appropriate for your child's age and weight, and double-check this with your pediatrician if you're unsure. If after trying this method of giving Bonnisan post-meal, there seems to be no improvement, it might be worthwhile to consult with your pediatrician again or an Ayurvedic practitioner who can tailor a specific program based on your child's unique constitution, or prakriti, and any dosha imbalances they might have. It’s important to approach this holistically and remember that consistency can make a big difference in results.
