Addressing both IBS and antral gastritis can be quite challenging, but Ayurveda offers a comprehensive approach to managing these conditions. The symptoms you're experiencing suggest an imbalance in your Pitta dosha, which governs digestion and metabolism, leading to excess acidity and entering the stomach lining. Here's a tailor-made Ayurvedic approach to help alleviate your symptoms. First, maintain a Pitta-pacifying diet. Stick to meals that are cooling and not overly spicy, oily, or heavy. Continue with khichdi, roti with plain dal, and ghiya as they're gentle on the stomach. Also, incorporate foods like zucchini, cucumber, and sweet, juicy fruits—think apple or pear, as long as they're thoroughly cooked. Avoid raw foods, caffeine, processed sugar, and high-fat items that may worsen your symptoms. Ingest medicinal herbs known for targeting your specific issues. For instance, take Amla (Indian Gooseberry) in the form of juice or powder. It is cooling and can help reduce stomach acidity. Another herb you may find soothing is Licorice root (Yashtimadhu). Prepare a tea with it and sip it slowly after lunch to aid digestion. Try to establish regular meal times, avoiding deviate too much from them even on holidays. Eating small, frequent meals helps keep your digestive fire (agni) balanced. Also, drink warm water throughout the day, but avoid ice-cold beverages. These can hamper digestion. Practice stress-reduction techniques like Pranayama or meditation. Stress often intensifies IBS symptoms, and balanced mental state is crucial. Abdominal breathing and gentle yoga may help, too, but opt for asanas that don't put too much pressure on the abdomen initially. Vajrasana after meals can aid digestion. Lastly, avoid sleeping immediate after meals. Wait at least 2-3 hours before lying down to prevent acid reflux symptoms from worsening. Following this regimen diligently should help you find relief. Always consult with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner for personalized guidance and to monitor your progress effectively.
