A reduction in menstrual blood flow, especially when periods were previously longer can be a concern. In Ayurveda, this could indicate an imbalance in the body's doshas, particularly the Vata dosha, which often influences the menstrual cycle. First, it's important to assess your diet and lifestyle, as these are closely linked with menstrual health in Ayurveda. Ensure you're consuming warm, nourishing foods that help to balance Vata, such as cooked vegetables, whole grains, and warm herbal teas. Avoid cold and raw foods, which might aggravate Vata. Introduce spices like cumin, fennel, and ginger into your meals, as they aid digestion and support reproductive health. Fenugreek seeds soaked in water overnight can be quite helpful too. Consume the seeds and water on an empty stomach in the morning. Consider the practice of abhyanga (self-massage) using warm sesame oil. It helps to calm Vata and soothes the nervous system. Doing this 2-3 times a week can improve overall health and balance. Regarding your hemoglobin levels, while 12.3 is within a normal range, ensuring adequate iron intake can support overall energy and menstrual health. Include iron-rich foods like leafy greens, lentils, and dates in your diet. Vitamin C-rich foods like amla and citrus fruits can improve iron absorption. Stress can also impact your menstrual cycle, so practices like yoga and pranayama are advisable. Engage in gentle yoga postures focused on the pelvic area, such as Baddha Konasana and Upavista Konasana, which could help regulate menstruation. Set aside some time for pranayama, especially Anulom Vilom and Nadi Shodhana, daily to support calmness and balance. These adjustments might naturally assist in restoring your menstrual flow over time. However, if the issue persists, it's wise to seek consultation with a healthcare professional or an experienced Ayurvedic practitioner for a more personalized approach.
