which chandan is best for face - #25055

Penelope

I am really struggling with my skin lately. I've tried sooo many creams and treatments, but nothing seems to help. Some friends tell me to use chandan for a glowing face, but like, which chandan is best for face? I heard there are different types like white and sandalwood, but I'm not sure which one would actually make a difference. A while ago, I went to an Ayurvedic shop and got some chandan powder, but it didn’t do much. Was it the wrong kind? I know people rave about its benefits for acne and blemishes, and I'm just sitting here with these pesky breakouts that seem to keep coming back! Ugh! I’m curious if maybe I should try using chandan oil instead? Or is the powder better for a mask? My skin feels so dull and lifeless, and people say chandan helps with that, too. Any tips from you all about which chandan is best for face, especially if you’ve had success with it? Would really love to hear your thoughts!!

When it comes to using chandan for the face, the type of chandan you choose can indeed make a difference. Generally, there are two main types: white sandalwood (santalum album) and red sandalwood (pterocarpus santalinus). For facial applications, white sandalwood is often preferred due to its cooling, soothing properties and its prabhav (special effect) on the skin. White chandan is highly venerated in Ayurveda for its ability to clear blemishes, acne, and enhance the skin’s natural glow. It works to pacify Pitta dosha, which can be responsible for skin inflammation and breakouts. If your skin concerns are primarily acne, dullness, or irritation, white sandalwood is your go-to choice. When you've used chandan powder before without significant effects, a couple of things might have gone off. Ensure you're using pure and high-quality white chandan. It's crucial your powder or paste is not mixed with artificial fillers. Check the source or try a different, reliable ayurvedic shop or supplier. Fresh preparation can often yield better outcomes. For application methods, both chandan powder and oil can be effective, each having its unique advantages. Chandan powder can be made into a paste, often mixed with rose water or milk to enhance its effect. Apply this as a face mask, leave on for about 15-20 minutes, thrice a week, then rinse with lukewarm water. This method can be particularly effective for reducing spots and brightening skin tone. Alternatively, using chandan oil, which is more concentrated, directly on stubborn areas — like acne spots or blemishes — might provide additional benefits due to its deep absorption. Use it sparingly and do a patch test first to avoid any irritation. This standard approach will help with acne management and impart a general radiance to dull skin. If your skin is consistently breaking out, it might suggest an internal factor aggravating it. Evaluate your diet, stress levels, or hormonal imbalances, remembering Ayurveda advocates a holistic view — balance within manifests without. Adjust your food intake to include cooling foods like cucumber, coconut, and maintain hydration for skin luminosity. Little tweaks here and there can collectively bring about transformation.
