how to make hing paste for gas in babies - #25073

Joseph

I am dealing with this super frustrating issue with my 6-month-old. He’s been having some serious gas problems lately, and it’s breaking my heart to see him squirm and cry. I heard that hing paste can really help with gas in babies, but I have no idea how to make hing paste for gas in babies. I mean, I’ve tried all the usual stuff, but nothing seems to work! Last night was particularly bad; he was up most of the night just fussing and whining. I read somewhere about making hing paste but I’m kinda clueless on the actual steps. Is it really safe?? Do I just mix hing with water or something? Any important dos and don’ts? Does it work right away or takes time? I just want my little guy to be comfy again. If anyone has tips on how to make hing paste for gas in babies or if there’s an alternative, plz share! This mommy is so tired and worried! Thanks!

To make hing paste for easing gas in babies, you'll need a small amount of hing, also known as asafoetida, which has been cherished in Ayurveda for its digestive benefits. However, before you proceed, it's essential to ensure your baby isn't allergic to hing. When used externally, hing is generally safe, but always exercise caution, especially with infants. Start by taking a pinch of hing powder (maybe the size of a pea) and mix it with a small amount of warm water to make a paste. Aim for a smooth, slightly runny consistency. Only a smidgen is needed; a little goes a long way. Once the paste is ready, gently apply it around your baby's navel, not directly on it. The skin near the belly button is ideal as it's known to absorb beneficial properties effectively. Leave the paste on for 10-15 minutes before wiping it away gently with a damp cloth. Be sure to monitor your baby during this time to ensure they aren’t experiencing any discomfort. Hing paste typically works quite quickly, but each baby is different. If new to hing, observe your baby’s reaction the first few times you try it. If there’s no improvement, consider consulting a paediatrician. Occasionally, a massage on the stomach can also encourage gas release. In conjunction with hing, offering a warm bath or gently massaging your baby's abdomen in a clockwise direction may provide additional relief. Make sure the environment is calm and your hands are warm when massaging. Lastly, remember that dietary changes can also profoundly influence your baby’s digestion. If you’re breastfeeding, consider what foods you are consuming, as they can affect your baby’s digestive comfort. Foods like cabbage, broccoli, and beans might be contributing to the gas. Aim for a balanced diet with easily digestible foods, steering toward calm, settled meals. Always reach out to a healthcare provider if the issue persists or you have concerns regarding your baby's health.
