can we take ashwagandha with milk - #25433

Amelia

I am kinda worried about my health lately. So I've been trying to explore natural remedies, like ashwagandha. I've heard a lot about its benefits, especially for stress and fatigue. A couple weeks ago, I started taking ashwagandha powder, but I wasn’t sure how to consume it best. Like, can we take ashwagandha with milk? I've read that mixing it with warm milk can be good, but then some people say that's not the right way to use it. Also, I have a lactose intolerance but sometimes I can handle small amounts of milk if it’s warmed. Does it still work the same? Lately, I've noticed I feel more fatigued and a bit anxious, too. Is the ashwagandha dosage I’m using right? I mean, can we take ashwagandha with milk regularly? What if I use almond milk instead? I just want to make sure I'm not doing it wrong and am kinda confused. Any advice would be super helpful!

Taking ashwagandha with milk is traditionally advocated in Ayurveda, as milk acts as an anupan (vehicle) to enhance the herb's effects, especially in calming the mind and nourishing the tissues. However, given your lactose intolerance, you should exercise caution. If you can tolerate a small amount of warm cow’s milk, you might be able to continue with this practice, but it's essential to listen to your body. If you experience discomfort, it's best to avoid regular milk and choose a suitable alternative. Almond milk, particularly when it is warm, can be an effective substitute for cow's milk. While it doesn't possess the same nourishing qualities from a strictly Ayurvedic perspective, it still serves as a suitable base due to its smooth texture and mild nature. Mixing your ashwagandha powder in warm almond milk could still support your relaxation and stress reduction aims without exacerbating digestive discomfort. Regarding dosage, it's generally advised to start with about 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of ashwagandha powder twice daily, but this can vary depending on individual constitution and specific health goals. If you’re feeling more fatigued and anxious, ensure that you're not exceeding your body's capacity to process it. It's also pivotal to ensure that your overall lifestyle reflects balance; incorporating stress-relieving practices like yoga, meditation, or pranayama can complement ashwagandha’s effects. If your fatigue and anxiety persist or worsen, consider speaking with an Ayurvedic practitioner to evaluate any potential imbalance or determine a more personalized herbal regimen. Lastly, be patient with natural remedies, as they often work gently and require consistency over time for noticeable benefits. Prioritize a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and promote restful sleep to bolster your energy and reduce anxiety.
