is drishti eye drop safe - #25496

Connor

I am currently dealing with some pretty annoying eye strain and blurry vision from staring at screens all day. A friend suggested I try these Drishti eye drops that are supposedly natural and work wonders for eye fatigue. But I'm really skeptical about trying new remedies, especially when it comes to my eyes. I mean, is Drishti eye drop safe?? I've read some positive reviews online—people saying they felt so refreshed and their vision improved—but then I also saw some comments expressing concerns about side effects. Like, how do I know if it’s right for me? I don’t have any actual conditions, but I've been experiencing dryness and slight discomfort. Also, should I be cautious if I'm on prescription meds? I just don’t want to make things worse. Can anyone share their experiences or knowledge? Is Drishti eye drop safe, or should I be looking for something else? Thanks a million!

Doctors' responses

Drishti eye drops are an Ayurvedic formulation often used for eye complaints like dryness, fatigue, or slight discomfort. These usually comprise natural ingredients such as camphor, mint, and various herbal extracts. In the context of Ayurveda, these ingredients are considered beneficial for soothing and nourishing the eyes. However, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution, especially when it pertains to something as sensitive as eye health.

Now, regarding safety, it’s generally true that many people use Drishti eye drops without issues. But the thing is, your eyes are delicate, and individual reactions can vary. Before trying any new treatment, it’s important to first take into account your unique constitution or dosha, which in Ayurveda, helps determine how suitable a remedy might be for you. If you’re Vata dominant, for instance, you may experience dryness more prominently, and this formula might be more beneficial.

But these drops might not be suitable for everyone. Certain people reported stinging or discomfort with their use, in particular due to the presence of camphor, known to have a cooling effect—sometimes too cooling for some. If you’re already on prescription medications, you should double-check to see if there are contraindications with any of the ingredients in Drishti.

If you decide to try them, do a patch test initially, apply a very small amount and observe if any discomfort occurs. And crucially, consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner or eye specialist. They can offer guidance on whether this is truly the optimal choice for you, considering your lifestyle, existing health conditions, and personal constitution.

For screen-induced strain, integrating a regimen that includes regular screen breaks, eye exercises, and maintaining appropriate lighting might help too. Staying hydrated and ensuring a diet rich in Vitmain A, like carrots and spinach, is also beneficial for eye health.

In your situation, taking care not to further strain your eyes is crucial. If symptoms persist or worsen, seeking professional medical attention is advisable to rule out any underlying issues.
