can ayurveda cure gastritis permanently - #25666

Nora

I am dealing with this awful gastritis for a while now and it's driving me nuts. I’ve tried changing my diet, but honestly, nothing seems to help much. I was diagnosed a couple months ago when I went to the doc after having constant bloating and this burning sensation in my stomach. They prescribed some acid reducers but I don't wanna rely on meds forever. I keep hearing people talk about Ayurveda and I’m just curious: can Ayurveda cure gastritis permanently? I don’t wanna just mask the symptoms, I’m looking for something that really works long-term. Been reading about herbal remedies and some lifestyle changes involved in Ayurveda, but it's kinda overwhelming. Like, would it actually address the root causes of my gastritis? Also, do I need to completely change my routine to see any benefits? I feel like I’ve already changed so much and it’s frustrating seeing zero progress. Any advice or personal experiences would be so appreciated! Thanks!

Ayurveda offers a holistic approach to managing and potentially alleviating the symptoms of gastritis by addressing its root causes rather than merely masking them. Gastritis, from an Ayurvedic perspective, often stems from an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which is the dosha associated with heat and metabolism. Your symptoms like burning sensation and bloating might indeed indicate such an imbalance. To work on this imbalance, let's start with diet, which is fundamental in Ayurveda. Aim to consume foods that are cooling in nature and pacify Pitta. Think foods like cucumbers, melons, ripe sweet fruits, and dairy products (if tolerated). Avoid spicy, fried, and overly sour foods which can aggravate Pitta further. Eating smaller, more frequent meals might prevent your stomach from becoming too empty and causing a burning feeling. Additionally, herbal remedies like amalaki (Indian gooseberry) and licorice root are often recommended in Ayurveda for their soothing and anti-inflammatory properties. You can take these in supplement form, or as an infusion, but do ensure to consult with an Ayurvedic practitioner who can tailor the dosage to your constitution and monitor your progress. Stress and irregular routines can exacerbate gastritis, so incorporating stress-relief practices is beneficial. Practices like meditation, yoga, especially postures that are calming and restorative, and regular pranayama (breathing exercises) can help maintain balance and promote digestion. Hydration is key; sip on water throughout the day, ideally at room temperature or warmed slightly. I know it seems overwhelming, but gradual lifestyle adaptations often lead to sustainable changes – you don't need to overhaul everything all at once. It's quite common to feel this process is overwhelming but prioritizing gradual incluion of these recommendations, and patience can show significant benefits over time. Partnering with a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner ensures you get a personalized plan, aligned to your unique constitution leading to hopefully substantial relief from gastritis symptoms.
