is besan good for fatty liver - #25763

Dylan

I am really confused about my diet lately, especially after getting diagnosed with fatty liver. My doc told me to watch what I eat, and I’ve been trying to figure out some good options. I read online that besan might be good for fatty liver?? I love making snacks with it, like besan chilla and some sweets too. But now, I'm not sure if it really helps with this condition. I’ve also read mixed things about whether besan is even safe in this situation. Some people say it’s high in protein and fiber, which are good, but then others suggest it's not the best choice because of something about carbs? I mean, I just want to know if besan is good for fatty liver or if I should toss it out of my diet completely. Also, if I can include it, any recommendations on how to prepare it without making it unhealthy? I feel lost and any advice would be super helpful! Thanks for reading my ramble!

Besan, or chickpea flour, can indeed be a beneficial addition to your diet when dealing with fatty liver, provided it’s consumed in moderation and prepared thoughtfully. In Ayurveda, fatty liver is often linked to Kapha imbalance, where excessiveness and stagnation occur. Besan, with it's high protein and fiber content, can support weight management and aid digestion, both of which are important in managing a fatty liver condition. However, attention must be paid your body's responses and overall diet balance. Besan is rich in nutrients and more protein than other flours, which helps balance blood sugar and can be part of a liver-friendly diet. The fiber allows for better digestion and may help to reduce fat accumulation when consumed in conjunction with a balanced diet. However, it also contains carbohydrates that, if eaten in excess, can potentially be detrimental for fatty liver conditions. Therefore, balance is key. When preparing besan, opt for methods that don’t add unhealthy fats or sugars. For example, make besan chilla using a non-stick pan with minimal oil. You might season with turmeric, cumin, or coriander for added flavor, as these spices are known for aiding digestion and metabolism. Avoid deep fried snacks or sweets made with sugar syrups. You can bake besan-based goods instead of frying to make it healthier. Consume besan with seasonal vegetables, making it a more complete meal that nourishes the liver. Ensure you're maintaining a diet rich in fresh fruits, leafy greens, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and lean proteins while mindful of portion sizes to avoid excess calorie intake. Sipping warm water throughout the day and gentle fasting periods like 12-14 hours between dinner and breakfast can also support liver health. Continously evaluate how your body responds and consider seeking professional dietary advice for personalized guidance, especially if new symptoms arise, ensuring your approach aligns with your healthcare provider’s recommendations.
